Obtaining Smiting Staves and Rods in Pre-searing
Sir Tidus
Can anyone tell me where's a good location to farm for smiting staffs and rods (doesn't have to be good) in Pre-searing? I mean other than Charr hunting beyond the gate. Thanks.
MisterB
The best place in Pre-Searing to find what you want is Charr Shaman beyond the gate, in Northlands. Alternately, try buying one in Ascalon City, and farm elsewhere for the gold to buy what other people have farmed from Charr Shaman beyond the gate, in Northlands. That's a trick question, am I right?

Lol, thanks. So there is no other drop other than the Charr Shaman? Cuz they r level 8, and I die every time I try to kill them. Is there a strategy for a level 7 W/Mo to solo the Charr? If not, can 2 level 7s (W/Mo and Mo/Me) do it?
RPGmaniac
Level up more then fight them.
Wirt
Are you looking for staffs or rods with a smite requirement or a staff or rod that does holy damage? I believe its a random drop.

Nevermind. It's Divine that does Fire; Wiki claims Smiting is Holy.
Sir Tidus
So, there's no way to get smiting staffs other than the Charr or buy? Can a level 7 W/Mo solo them? Or with another level 7 friend?
RPGmaniac
Why do you need one so bad is my question. Is it because you saw them going for 2k like in your other thread?
MisterB
Try looking for collectors or quest rewards on wiki, and sort by Prophecies/Pre-Sear. Those won't be very good, but honestly, your wand/staff damage will be mostly useless anyway. Don't worry about finding better caster gear until Post-Sear. Holy damage won't make a difference either; it will still be the same low damage range, with the possible exception of Rangers. You might, maybe, possibly hit for 1 extra HP.

Is there anyway I can get a list of collectors in pre-seaing? I can't find one on wiki, at least not by searching "collector" and/or "pre-searing."

Can't find listing of quest rewards easily, but they're probably not any better than collector stuff, anyway. If you want a better weapon, you'll just have to go North of the Wall.

Ok, wasnt sure if you were expecting a smite recharge reduction in pre. But if you encounter undead you might just be better attacking with sword or ax, instead of getting double holy damage from a staff. At level 7 you should be getting pretty good at clearing the catacombs with a warrior (use corners to avoid the wand attacks).
