KoaBD[r6] and the HoM
Raiku
In the Halls of Monument, we are only allow to have 5 Titles displayed.
Does that mean, that these are the only 5 title that would carry over to GW2?
Or when you reach KoABD r6, your r6 status would carry over as well?
I would like to know, that way, I can just grind for 5 titles or perhaps the 30.

you can only display 5 at a time but u can put all your titles ready for GW2

No one really knows how the HoM will work when giving stuff in GW2. However, since we can't rearrange the monuments the way we actually want them at the moment, I think it'd be ridiculous if Anet chose only to reward those ones on display.

We know :
1 - Monument of Honor depends on the Maxed titles rank
2 - Filling all of the five monuments boosts the appearance by 1 rank (Maxed titles rank)
3 - After Rank 5, the Monument of Honor does not change (i know people with R6)
So far, if you want to have a "perfect" HoM you must be at least : R4 (maxed titles rank) + all 5 monuments full.
And the GW2 reward is.....

Ofc you will receive something for every title you put in....the fact that you can only see 5 statues is just a "look" issue.

My own speculation is that adding monuments beyond the number that you can actually display... will have NO additional effects! Otherwise HoM will shaft the people who play lots of different characters even worse, and I really hope A-Net doesn't do that.
I also speculate that KoaBD rank (in addition to the 5 monuments you display) will have an effect in GW2... since it does change the appearance of your HoM, up to rank 5.
Well, only time will tell... in the meantime, I'll fill up all the displays but I'm not going to bother dedicating more than 20 minipets, adding more than 11 destroyer weapons, grinding titles beyond KoaBD[5] etc etc. If it turns out that every little thing you put in HoM does give a benefit in GW2, AND those benefits are worthwhile... then I might consider grinding some more GW1. But the benefits would have to be pretty amazing or I won't bother.

Well the first thing is we don't know where we start the game, i don't think well start at the HOM at all in the GW2. They could give us like the looks for GW1 charcters and not have the option in GW2, there for giveing us the way the out charcter looked. I believe i read somewhere anet really has no idea what they are doing for the Hall at this point, it might be like the Rainbow Phoenix bird or something like that. It all depends on at what point do we get to the HOM.

Gw1 is NOT Gw2. It is a new game, seperate yet linked in plot to Gw1, and should be treated as such. All of your ecto, titles, characters are gone for the most part in gw2. I'm not saying this because I dont have any wealth or titles, I have r2 KoaBD and a few obsidian sets among other things. However, I don't play the game to fill up my HoM and max titles just to say "GW2 now please anet."
I think its absolutely rediculous that some of these people only play gw1 now for wealth/titles/minipets, look at the fanbase you've created anet, are you happy now?

Is there anything else one could play for? Go go heroway and grind the titles.
Look at other games. D2 - it's why people are still playing. Hellgate, Dungeon Runners, AO, .... Grinders will stick with the game till it shuts down.

My vision is this: You only get benefits from what is displayed/visible....
If you only added 1 monument you get a small benefit.
If you added 2 monuments you get a bigger benefit.
If you have added 5 monuments, you get the maximum benefit.
If you add more than 5 monuments, you get the same benefit as 5 monuments, no more. (except you do get to play the "rearranging game" LOL)
I am imagining that only the number of visible monuments matters, it doesn't matter which monuments they are, and it doesn't matter if there are more monuments available "behind the scenes".
Once again: this all pure speculation on my part. When GW comes out, if I discover it doesn't work like this... then I'll put in all the extra stuff I haven't bothered to add yet. But in the meantime, I'm happy to avoid the "rearranging" problems!

You can't honestly expect them to give you a real advantage over anyone, just because you played the previous game. That would be a huge "Go red engine go you for not playing GW1!" to new customers. I'm betting on something purely esthetic, like a title or a prettier starter armor. Or another small advantage that matters during the first few levels of gameplay, but becomes completely redundant at higher levels. You're welcome to prove me wrong, ArenaNet. In this very thread, if you like. |
Im thinking, of course they wont give a competitive advantage, they'll whatever you get will just be something flashy to show off, like a good title, or 15k armor.

My vision is this:
The HoM will allow you to maybe display some title in GW2 based upon your titles in GW1.
The mini-pets (in particular, the Black Moa Chick) in HoM may allow you to get a particular pet in GW2 (but not a better pet, just diiferent).
The weapons in HoM will probably do nothing, other than be displayed. But they may translate into some "bonus" weapons in GW2 - which would have about the same usefulness as the "bonus" weapons in GW1 (i.e. - not much)
The armor sets may allow you to have some slightly different looking armor in GW2
In other words - all that the HoM will do for you is allow you to show people that you have, indeed, played GW1. Can we please stop whining about the HoM!

any kind of bonus we will receive in guild wars 2 will be purely esthetic.
anyone hoping to receive a "perfect unlimited uses salvage kit" in guild wars 2 as a reward for being grandmaster treasure hunter or source of wisdom in gw1 will be severly disappointed.
max we're getting -and i'm happy with it, despite having "few" titles myself- is a fancy hat, the ability to display our old titles under our character name, a prefix before our name, a fancy skinned item with balanced stats u can find anywhere in guild wars2, or any mix of the above 4 options.
wouldn't be fair to give old-school players something to be "stronger". We may look different, we may have a fancy hat or an exclusive pet, nothing more.

I think GW2 will be a magical wonderland full of fairy dust and pretty unicorns.

We'll get a armor with "I maxed my HoM and all I got is this lousy T-shirt" printed on it. And a fork :P.
