Today while at my local JB HI-FI store I noticed copies of Nightfall and EotN on the shelf and to my knowledge GW is only distributed via Ebgames and online purchases in Australia.
This made me think has Anet allowed other shops to sell Guild Wars? and what is Anets plans in Australia for distribution on GW2?
As many Australians know we have been some-what let down by EBgames over the years with delayed arrivals due to shipment problems, pre-ored kits not arriving properly and running out of copies. Due to the previous let downs by EB I bought EotN via the in-game store.
I would like to know what other Aussies think about the distribution of GW2 in Australia and I would like to know if Anet has changed their stance to allow JB to provide GW.
Also if Any people from NZ have the same situation I'd like to know your opinion.
Now for my opinion, I would like anet to broaden the amount of companies that sell GW such as Target, Game, K-Mart, Big W etc.
thoughts?

Kiwi here.
I thought the same as you, and unfortunatly, the closest EB closed down, so more stores would be good. Then again I may not even get GW2.

EB Games gave me $50 for free because they messed up my EoTN pre-order. They called me about 3 weeks ago asking if I was ever going to pick up EoTN, which of course I had already done when it came out. So because the computer said I still had $50 with them, they gave me a 50 dollar gift card for free.
If EB games keeps making mistakes like that, I'm happy for them to keep handling pre-orders for games. Besides, JB outlets have a tendency to be in poor locations no where near my place.

You seem to be mixing up distribution and reselling, Awakener.
Are you saying that EB Games was the local distributor for Anet, and then only electing to resell via its own stores? Or are you simply calling any store where you see the game a distributor?
Because I would point out that just because a store might be reselling the game, doesn't necessarily make its parent company a distributor. They are two very distinct things.
If the former, perhaps EB, as the distributor, is now allowing other outlets, such as JB to resell the game? Nothing weird about that. It wouldn't make JB a distributor, however, only a reseller.
Hope this helps.

GW has been available in most Australian gaming stores. Game Traders, JB's, EB's (obviously), GAME just to mention a few... As far as I know though EB's will get them first, even if other stores sell them, which leads me to believe that EB's is the distributor whereas other stores are able to retail them. Does that make sense? When GWEN was a week late coming out and i'd pre-ordered it I rang around all of Melbourne seeing if any other store had an earlier copy, but they all said the same thing; it would be late.
While you can buy it in other stores, I don't think it makes a difference in shipping delays.

Yeah, that's what I was saying in post #4.
I used to write for an IT reseller publication so I know a lot... too much... about how these kinds of things work *chuckle*
And, in truth, we don't even know if EB is actually the distie, either. There could be a specialist software distie which is bringing it in, and EB is only a mere reseller, as well.
