Keeping your guild in GW2?
Dylananimus
I know it's a long way off, but hell...can't help it if I'm looking forward to the new game
I was just wondering - call it being nosy - how many people are planning to recreate, or stay with their GW guild when they get GW2.
At this point we don't know how guilds are going to work in GW2, but if it's possible, will you be trying to stick together or will you be making a clean break? If you're a guild leader, are you planning the move to GW2 and hoping to keep your flock intact?
I for one really hope the guild I'm in stays together, even if we lose a few members who won't buy the game or just move on to other things. I think a large reason I still enjoy playing so much is because of the people in the guild I'm a member of. It's a nice feling having them there, and I hope to take that feeling with me to the next level, though I think I'm lucky we have some great members (not being biased, honest).
Is it just me feeling sentimental?

Not sure if its true... but I read/heard somewhere that guilds will carry over (I sure hope thats true) - so me and a few friends recently made a guild (I'm the leader) so that we can have a pre-established one that hopefully carries over to GW2. Right now its only us 3, but I hope to get more members.
But in the case that guilds do not carry over, I decided that I will create a guild asap when GW2 is released, and get my friends together again - so we can be a founding guild ^_^

If they work in the same fashion as they do as far as gw1. A group of people/friends with their own chat. Then I would have to say I would join a guild focused around World vs World PvP. Only because I think it will be so incredibly fun. Like a giant Battlefield match dated back in time before they used guns ^^.

Yea me and about 30 or so guys had thought about forming a founding guild for gw2 if the guilds don't carry over
prism2525
i just pray guilds will have more advanced ranking systems. (not just leader, officer and member but also some fancy title given by the leader for merit or other crap)

Gaile mentioned that guilds should carry across, just as character names do
If thats the case, I will be keeping my guild active

As long as all of us move to GW2 together, we plan to stay together...though im 100% sure a few of us will be sticking it out in GW2 together.

I'd also, like Prism2525, like there to be more control over ranks and the naming of them. I'm sure that would make guilds even more special and distinct if you could have your own system of promotion, etc. Yup, I'm all for that

I was told by this guy named Freddy-Bob that I know in Anet that only guilds that have ever been in the top 100 in the ladder and with a pseudo-Latin name will be allowed to be transferred to GW2. All other guilds will be required to break up and pick a new name that differs from their old at at least 36 characters.

personally I hope they do away with the guilds. Now before you chaste me let me explain. I think there needs to be permanent in-game guilds like Kurzicks and Luxons. There should be like 5 perma-guilds depending on region and deity-worship. Withiin the perma-guilds we can create our own clans.
I suppose we can still call our groups guilds and call the 5 perma-guilds as factions.

1. I'm hoping guild names can be carried over. We're a rather small guild (In GW, anyway), but we've had our name in GW since beta. We also have our name in other on-line games we play.
2. Additional ranks, just one or two, would also be a nice addition. Even in a small guild they'd be very helpful for organizational purposes. I'm sure the larger guilds really benefit from them.

I'm guessing if they're going to have world PvP we'd have to choose a faction to be allied with maybe. I like the Kurzick/Luxon alliance thing we have now; it would be nice to see maybe more than two choices in the new game, however.

Well I think what I'll do is form a new guild, which will combine my guild and all the guilds in my alliance into one big one. Not sure if I'll keep the same name or not, but that's what I'm planning.

Yeha, I hope they'll carry over. Some of us intend to play GW2 and we like our guild name; would be fun seeing HiDE active in GW1 and GW2.
However, I wonder if we'll have alliances - we do enjoy the whole HiDE alliance. They're our friends, and some we're starting to know better. Some of them don't want to expand and remain very small and selective (one of our guild is a guy, his g/f and I think their roommate and another friend?), while HiDE itself seeks more people. A lot of talk between HiDE and the other guilds via Alliance Chat... would be less interesting for me if I can't communicate easily with 75% of my friends. I just want to avoid PMing me 10 people in order to ask them if they're up to anything.

I will most likely keep my guild if I do bother with GW2. I like having my own guild thats pretty much just me. I may try to get a couple people to join me, but I doubt it.
Uber Mass
it's very likely alot of my guild are sticking together in gw2 also
Fungus Amongus
I'm sure a few key members of [Rare] will still be together. We have some key members that have been together since the beginning (some shortly thereafter) of 2006.
I know if the guild carries over, I will stay with my guild. (Unless our leader, Carinae Dragonblood, unleashes imbaminions on us)

With all the MMO's I've played in the past, I've always been one of the front runners in a specific category. I've always been big on sticking it out through beta till launch and being the FIRST to get something done what ever it may be. GW was the first exception to this state of mind, and although I enjoyed it, I missed the early rush and sense of achievement. This has lead me to thinking about the future, and perhaps a Pre-Beta -> Beta -> Launch, Guild for GW2. I wouldn't mind being leader but I'd prefer a collaborative group rather then a single decision maker, but the main point is that I want to be ahead this time around. I'd like to be one of the ground breakers in GW2, first to do something, or in this case along with a guild, the first to achieve what ever our goal may be. First to create a meta team, kill a boss, pwn at a form of PvP, ya know. Definitely be better then coming in late and swapping guilds every month like I did this time around.
Anyone who likes this idea and can devote a modest amount of time to GW2... Well contact me if you want in, I think I'll start getting official about a GW2 guild once more info is released about the game. However, there are a few avid forum members that seem pretty cool and enjoy GW no matter what, sooo I might just be sending out some PMs soon.

yes i hope they carry over to gw2 with maybe more options and how about some guild only skills you have to be in one to use them sort of thing

The Charter Vanguard will be going over to GW 2, whether carried over or re-created. We already have an almost 4-year history, no point stopping now.
Vitas
As our guild was created in the original beta, I'm sure OSS will re-group or carry-over.
It will be interesting to see how guilds will change in GW2. I'm guessing for the persistent portions of the game that there will be at least 2 main "factions" or "alliances." [I agree, it won't be Lux v Kurz.]
Someone suggested the possibility that there could be "pre-existing" groups, or "factions" that our guilds could join or ally with. Wouldn't it be fascinating if they introduce a political facet to the game?

My Guild will be sticking together. They are a great bunch of people.

most off us will step over to GW2 and likewise the guild if it ain't automaticly transfered, will be recreated with the members we have that will come to GW2

some guilds should stay in gw1 to look after it

Going to complete all the campaigns and stuff,
And I'm not leaving GW 1 without knowing what the exclusive rare drop from the Z-chest is

Instead of carrying my guild's straight name over, I'll be making an invite-only guild called The Eternal Order of Chaos (threads of HoM, I know). I plan to keep The Order of Chaos Reborn still active on GW1 to some extent, and I don't want the GW1 guild and the GW2 guild to be confused.
Lord Feathers
The folks you play the game with do make it so much more enjoyable and honestly I created a guild so I wouldn't have to game in PUGS. Gaile has said on numerous ocassions that they are " planning " on carrying guilds over into GW 2. With anet though the " planning " and actual implementing can be a bit different
There are also a few pieces floating around somewhere where she has also said that names should also carry over since we are known by one name that the name should also carry over into GW 2. You'll have to do some digging to find those chat logs.
I'd like to see guilds carry over in some aspect so that the friends we've made can stay togeather better then something more then a friends list.

3/4 of my guild have been inactive for 3 months+, so I don't see it tbh

My guild's just a few of us that play and very seldom all at once. I know at least 2 of us are working towards GW2 and planning on playing it as well if we like it.

Some guilds and character names will carry on atleast i heard so ..

My guild (Brotherhood of Kain) is a family based guild so I'm pretty sure we'll all be back for GW2. It sucks that it's hard to grow a casual PvE primary guild so I hope there's never any minimums put on membership. I doubt I'd ever find another guild that would let me play just on weekends and select weekdays, and only PvE (I hate structured PvP, but am excited to try the world battles of GW2).

Definitely ^^ Love the guys in my alliance!
