Charr as a DnD race
Vanessa Dwager
I'm running a DnD campaign on the side of playing Guild Wars and I decided to make the mysterious sniper that killed the players contact be a charr. Is there somewhere a stat sheet someone came up with that works good in a DnD setting? Worst case scenario I make the race myself but then what stats would they get?
Antitorgo
I'm not positive, but I think they all get a +1 to their furriness.

I would take the basic orc template and play around with it. Remove the darkvision and light sensitivity, and if they fight against the humans for generations in your campaign as well, then throw in some racial bonuses against humans. And instead of the Intelligence penalty I would give them a wisdom penalty. They are kinda smart, but easy to lure (aka Titans).

If you are DM worth anything, YOU are the best person to template charr to fit with YOUR campaign (ofc it it is really your campaign and not boxxed stuff.).
Making it yourself is best case scenario, imo.

Yeah, I could make it all from scratch and then get something not even close to charr. Would I be a DM worth anything? Hey guys, I RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed it up, but I'm worth something for trying. Doesn't make sense.
Thanks to Primusq though =)

The term is probably better known now then it was 10-15 years ago.
There's a cat like race, Rakshasha? Slaads, Werewolves and Werecats look a bit like Charr and have the animal legs, with dual joints, rather then the humanoid joints found on the Rakshasha.

Just use the Bugbear stats from the Monster Manual? They are similar if i recall correctly, and their should be the information needed to level them up to whatever you need for your campaign.

But, yeah, I remember skipping out on going to a club to play Battletech in College.
I always was a geek though.

I don't think pnp gaming ever had 5% of the MMO fanbase in numbers. How did these people even find each other before there was internet?

Yes, I went to a strange church...
But, once upon a time there were these stores that sold nothing but Comics and RPGs. Usually, you could meet other wierdos like you there.
Then Magic the Gathering came out, and IMO, pushed RPGs to the wayside.
(It's more complicated than that, of course, and I know WoTC owns D&D now, but so far I haven't been impressed with the new editions. Haven't checked out 4th yet... too busy playing GW and WoW! LOL)
But yeah, for me at least, it's MUCH easier to log on and play online for an hour or two than to meet somewhere and find people to play a pen & paper game.
Another downside is the price for all the books... no more than a video game, true, but people have limited disposable income, and if you have to choose between a book and a video game...

Not to mention that momma says "DnD is the Devil" XD I never could get into PnP games. I would rather read a good book. DnD books are my fav thou. R A Salvatore, etc.

Baldur's Gate 1 & 2...oh man forget D&D.

PnP used to be massive man...the first Final Fantasy (which would basically kick start the entire RPG genre of video games, which would kickstart the MMORPG genre) based itself on Dungeons & Dragons in many many things to appeal to people because thats how big it was.

"So, wait, it's good that my armor rating is 0???"

I can't believe no one's mentioned the Catfolk (from Miniatures Handbook and Races of the Wild) yet. Why make something from scratch when it already exists?
Frozenface
The Charr always reminded me of gnolls, personally.

Anyone who says they'd prefer to play an MMO over D&D obviously doesn't realize that they are two completely different things. Just because an MMO has "RPG" in the genre does not make it same kind of roleplaying experience that any sort of pencil and paper RPG does. Unless you play on an RP server.
