Frustration with Hero Handbooks
Carinae
Can Anet please make it so you cannot turn in a book for a title you have maxed?
I just finished a book, and went to Gunnar's Hold, cause that's the Norn home base. And I wasn't thinking and I turned it into the Dwarven guy instead....a FULL book.
I'm already maxed on Dwarven...but he took it anyway.
Yes, it's my fault. But it's dumb they allow that for maxed titles.

some people like to just keep adding to a title and turning books in is the fastest way to do.
enter_the_zone
Never realized you could do that. A warning box, at least, would be nice.

I think the warning box is a good idea.
An another note, I once dyed a bag black when I was trying to change bags, before they had the pop-up combo system. That really ticked me off.

Boy, I really hope it wasn't a complete HM Dungeon Guide. If so... I really hate it for ya!
But yeah, /signed. I can't really blame Anet for missing something like this, though. But I can blame them if they don't fix it! :P

Would be pretty upset if that happened to me, especially if it's a completed HM Dungeon book. Although i usually double check everything, a warning box would be ace.

Aw... that hurts just by hearing it.
Once you max all 4 titles, they should not take the books and let you use the book for another character.
Yeas, it should work like that.

How can you not tell the difference between a 4 foot drawf and an 8 foot Norn?
I can see your frustration, but im sure there are some reasons why Anet allows you to continue contributing handbooks even if you max the title for that race.
MithranArkanere
Oh, they have statistics that keep track of that. Remember when they showed the players with the higher values of Lightbringer and Sunspear?
A PvE ladder? XD
Other than that, I can't think another reason with the data I currently have.

I think this belongs in Sardalac - or maybe the "your worst self-ownage" thread.
But yeah, a warning would be a good idea. You should still be able to apply points if for some reason you want to, so it should be a warning and not a block.

I support taking warning labels from everything and letting the problem solve itself.
Turning in books for a maxed title makes lots of sense. You gain XP (skill points) and money. And since titles are very easily maxed, books still serve some purpose.
This goes right up there with "mindless" grind. Heaven's forbid one pays attention to what's on screen as long as they hear the ding. Mindless clicking left and right. The book used in this way becomes completely worthless, just turn it in asap to push the bars higher.
Everyone wanted progression and grind. This is it. This is how in progression based games you can waste hours, days, weeks or even months. Consider how in GW2 it'll be possible to roll a gimp. A class that will never be useful, never wanted, and that will never be able to be part of any group, never do high end instances. Because of emphasis on mindless grind.
Just get another book, only takes a few hours. At least you're a few k richer.

I almost did the same thing, except I noticed before it was too late and went to the right guy. It's a very easy mistake to make, though. Anyone not signing this deserves to trip on a dwarf and have an unfortunate encounter with his axe.

I just wasn't thinking. It's the Norn capitol, so I didn't expect the Dwarven Guy to be there at all. My fault, that said, a warning would have been real nice.

I wasn't aware that they would even accept books after maxing a title. I can't think of any negative impact for adding a warning.

Though it's a small oversight on the part of the player, it would be nice to cater to occasional moments of noobness that erase the effort of several hours of non-noobness.

1. You need to talk to an npc to do it, so it's your fault if you make a mistake; it's not exactly a fast thing.
2. No reason to remove the opportunity for people who have maxed all of these titles from getting the gold and xp.

I don't see why they can't add a warning box when you consider all the idiot proofing that's gone into the trade system.

It makes sense, and this is a principle that should be generalised in all GW.
