You forgot to edit the player's name in the target bar on the top.
I was under the impression that numbers weren't allowed in character names.
Curious.

asian names are allowed numbers
kerpall
there cant be spaces in japanese names though, with the enlish + japanese name.
i'm not sure about other asian names
and i dont think it allowed me to type kanji (the chinese looking characters) either in my name.
please let me know if this is different, or simply because i was using a trial account.
either that, or i am incredibly stupid at making asian names >_< (50/50 chance im just stupid or dont know somthing, lol)

is it possible that he is a hacker that hacked the character select screen to do that?

Asian accounts are allowed numbers, it's true. Unfair isn't it? =P
I first noticed it when I saw someone called "No. 1".

It's something to do with the fact that people pronounce there names different to the way it is written. (Someone could be called Light but use the Kanji for Moon) My opinion anyway...

Anyway, it's not a hack, it's simply the way it is: asian players can use numbers in their names, but european and US players can not. According to a discussion on the official wiki, the reason is that the chinese character set contains numbers which are coded differently than in latin character sets, and therefore not filtered by the game.

Also saw a character name that was censored. Like he said something in local chat, and when it showed his name half of it was ----. I was kinda surprised, especially since the character creation screen normally doesn't allow stuff like that.

Meh, they seem to do a pretty good at catching most things. Although I've never tried, some friends of mine have.
Only thing I figured was he named his character before they added that word that got censored to the list of words they don't allow.

It happend to my friend, his name had a vulgar word in it, and anet didn't catch it, once they did, they had him change it and he didn't have to re-make the character.

Even if they get numbers, don't they have to pay to play?
