Hey guys,

I'm planning on buying one of these C2Quads, they are currently priced at ~250 euro. They have been for ages. Does anyone know if the prices are going down any time soon? Because I was told there were

I believe it was Rahja the Thief who said so a while ago, so I'm still waiting patiently

Oh and while you're at it, I'm buying a 8800 GT as well, how about those prices?

The prices may start dropping a bit when Intel actually releases their new Core 2 Quads. They've been delayed for at least a month because of some design bug last I heard.

I've seen GeForce 8800GT's sell for about 220 €, which is a very nice price considering the card's faster than a Radeon 3870 in most games. The problem's really the availability. Nvidia can't seem to ship enough of them to meet the demand, so the card's out of stock in a lot of places.

If you're getting one make sure it's the 512MB version; some newer games use enough video memory by themselves to make the 256MB version run out if you're running at high resolutions with antialiasing enabled, killing the frame rate even though the card would otherwise be perfectly capable of running at those settings. The price difference isn't high enough to make the 256MB GF 8800GT worth purchasing.

Thanks I guess I'll wait a month before I buy my processor.

And yes, I'm definitely buying the 512 MB version:

8800GT 512MB/256Bit DDR3/660Mhz T2D512E-OC Msi, €269.00 :

MSI NX8800GT-T2D512E-OC GeForce 8800GT G92 660Mhz 512MB GDDR3 256Bit,
1900Mhz PCI-Expressx16, DirectX10.0, TVout, 2xDVI, HDCP HDTV Retail.

last time I looked MSI only offered a 1 year warranty.

evga/bfg offers lifetime warranties(for the 88 series). not sure about xfx, I think they are in the 3yr range.

I don't know about you, but a lifetime warranty makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

-as far as price drops. it (processor) went down like 5 bux in 5 months.

The Q6600 will have a price cut on the 20th of April 2008. Here's Intel's price cut schedule:

Yeah I prefer XFX, but I'd have to let it ship over here, which will cost another 2-3 weeks, and the waiting list is long enough

Thanks! That's helpful. Unfortunately, waiting 3 months for a $40 dollar price cut doesn't seem worth it to me, so I'll just buy it right now

You'll really like that Q6600. Extremely overclock friendly. I have mine at 3.0ghz just by tweaking the FSB. Standard air cooler. Very nice processor for the money.
