Starting Over

I picked up Guild Wars over the holidays and have played both Prophecies and Nightfall. Although this was my first MMO game, I jumped right in and starting playing. Now that I understand the game a little better, I think I would like to restart the game. Meaning creating a new character without the benefit of all the coins, weapons, armor, and other inventory items I already have in my account. I know I can create a new character (I still have several empty slots), but I don't know how to keep all of the Inventory separated.

1. Is this foolish to want to really start over? I do have a Level 18 Ranger/Dervish that I've enjoyed playing with...

2. Is there an easy way to reset the game?

Thanks for your comments...

Yes of course there is. Don't delete your Ranger...just make another! Also your Storage chest is tied per acc not per character, so any character on your account can utilize it. So IF you did want to "restart" then put everything you want to keep in storage and just take it out on the next char. Also, you may regret re-making a character.. i know i have a few times. Proph + NF = 6 char slots, so i'd say make a new character (whichever one you want) then If you decide you dont want your Ranger, delete him/her when you are ready.

Hope this helps, any more questions fire away i'm glad to help

Just put all of your gold and items from your storage into the inventory of your R/D and you can start a new character using one of your empty slots. This is, as I can see it, the easiest way to "start over". You can always delete any characters that you have created, but hold off on that in case you change your mind.

Restarting is easy. Makes the game interesting again.

1. Yes & no. It's not foolish to want to go back and re-experience the development process with a new character. It is foolish to want to have some way of mandatorily separating stuff other than, I don't know, just not using stuff from your other character. Unless you've been uber successful in the whole month you've had the game, you can keep all the gold & plat on the higher level character and use one of the two Xunlai chest tabs per character (assuming you've only got two tabs because you've only got one campaign, if you've got more, it should be even easier).

2. Sure, put all your stuff on your character and delete it. You'll still be able to buy skills you've already unlocked at the skill trainers since that's based on your account. However, why you'd want to do this is beyond me. Once you know what you're doing, it's less than a week of evenings, even in Prophecies, to be at max level again. You'll be tossing out whatever good stuff you have found just to spend less than a week re-doing the same stuff you've already done.

My recommendation, realise you neither need to nor should want to actually reset the game and just make a new character. Playing different character classes is fun, getting the edge having access to gold and better equipment nets you is actually increasing your options in the game. You've also not pushed the game far enough to realise that 80% or more of the content in the game is designed for level 20 parties - getting to level 20 for any character is just the appetizer.

There's the answer... put all of the storage items into the inventory of my R/D. Thank you very much!!

Now... which character to create...

Of course you are absolutely right, I've only scratched the surface of the game. But I've just now cracked open the manual, so I'm sure I will soon find out what artifacts do. I have almost 8 platinum of coins (I think platinum is the right phrase). So the temptation would be to upgrade my weapons and armor on the new character before actually "earning" it. I don't know, just a different way of thinking about it I guess.

I want to play around with the different character combos. That will be the next part I focus on.

Thanks for your reply. It was helpful!
