Has anyone else noticed the "buff" to the Charr in EotN?
arsie
I was doing Assault on the Stronghold for NM book farming earlier when I was getting beat up quite badly by the Charr outside the stronghold. Usually I just stroll through this.
The NPC Charr lost repeatedly and the Devourers were getting killed. Once inside, I realised that the Charr had defeated the Destroyers on right flank. Usually they lose over there.
Everything also felt like it was happening much faster, maybe a little lag. Anyone else notice?
The only thing I can find that might explain any of this in the Jan 31 update is this: Charr Bladestorms found in Guild Wars: Eye of the North now wield swords instead of axes to match their equipped skills.
They are hitting me with Hundred Blades, which I never noticed before. I always thought the Charr areas were way easier than the Asura areas, maybe the fact that Bladestorms were walking around with sword bars and wielding axes had something to do with it. Well, they fixed that bit.
Caught me by surprised, no longer quite a stroll in the park.

use this on a monk hero
OwgT0yHDzpeMG30zk7aYMekcBA
block lifebond for use. when 2 groups at sides are done, deal with the others and as soon as saurus comes in battle life bond him. Have mhenlo and livia and the monk hero and a healer of your choice. I use signet of lost sould healer. Dont fight anyone just try to survive there until gate is broken. When its broken charge in. AEGIS HELPES! Consider bringing them with 2 heroes as itll be cool to have %50 block

I noticed this as well. I've been trying to do it lately with my Ranger, and it seems like it's a lot harder than when I was doing it with my Derv.
Makes me think I might need to get a group of people...

They also changed it so that the Charr are using the correct weapons, apparently they weren't previously
Steboy93
It doesn't seem much harder imo
chowmein69
havent noticed this , they seem to still be the same
I pwnd U
Nope, I haven't noticed that. I have always gotten different results on that one before. I normally see the Destroyers win but occasinally the Charr have won out whenever the boss goes to that side. It happens.

i helped out a guildie recently with Assault on Stronghold..and i had noticed charr were still standing and no destroyer in sight.
the destroyers were wiped no sign of them..
before that run i use to finish off destroyers not charr to complete mission.
but in saying that i didnt think charr were any more difficult than usual.

theoretically they aren't ..practically they are, due to the change of the weaopn changed also the damage power they have slightly.
Due to the change from axes to sword weilding now, those charrs deal now lesser max damage, but more than double of their previous average damage per hit and they attack with swords faster, than with axes.
6-28 , little bit slower ASPD then Swords with their 15-22... due to this charr are the Blade Storms now possible to dish out more average damage/minute, thus making them more dangerous against the Destroyers and i think ,thats the reason why they are now able to win also too the fight against them...
But I've 1 question: have you seen this change now more then once, do now ever win the charr ? or is the fight now more like a 50/50 Chance ?

Cherng Butter
The Charr ALWAYS wiped the Destroyers when I've played that mission...HM though.
The Meth
Actually, because AFAIK lvl 20+ enemies have vastly higher critical rates vs a player character then normal players, a HM charr with an axe probably has a non-negligible advantage over swords. Also, charr were able to use sword skills before with axes just fine, otherwise we wouldn't have seen them use skills at all and I sure saw hundred blades before.
Crom The Pale
In hard mode the charr obliterate the destroyers....
In normal mode is seams to be a 50/50 split as to who will win each time I've done this mission.
Note* the bladestorms seam to use Riposte more often now, but that could just be my imagination.

Molock
I wouldn't notice.. I have aegis up most of the time.
Numa Pompilius
Yeah, did that mission in Hardmode yesterday, and the Charr slaughtered the Destroyers. One group of Charr was reduced to one survivor, but the other groups were completely untouched.
The Deldrimor dwarves should just pay the Charr to kill Destroyers...

Haven't really noticed. Though in HM I don't think I've ever seen the destroyers win. In NM, I think it was about a 2:1 in favour of the destroyers except for the charr boss group.
Evaine
I've just done Assault on the Stronghold with my Necromancer and Ranger.
When the Necro went through it, the Charr defeated the Destroyers. When the Ranger did it, the Destroyers defeated the Charr. There was another player on the team when I took the Necro, but just Heros and Henchies with the Ranger. I think it just depends on how things spawn.
I'm curious to see what my Elementalist ends up with. Destroyers I bet.
Edited to add: I ran into a Charr Dominator that used Power Block to knock all my Necro's skills out like when a Ranger pet dies - that was unexpected. They're definitely not push-overs anymore.

Heh...
Charr Vs. Destroyer
I'd have the Charr anyday.

1 up and 2 down
I did this yesterday in NM and while my npc charr weren't killed by the enemy. I noticed the destroyers weren't doing as well as they usually do.
genofreek
I thought they seemed stronger! I was just doing average NM quests up in Charr territory and holy crap. I used to practically ignore their melee, but now when facing melee/nukers/enchant strippers, my squishies really have to RUN! :O
Pleikki
They same for me still.
Lord Sojar
Bladestorms are much more painful now with the correct weapon, especially in HM and if you ball up at all (Hundred Blades spam). Other then that, the Charr mesmers powerblocking me same as always (bastards...) Still beat them though, except that EVIL charr boss on Blood Washes Blood quest in HM with his 230 dmg per pulse Breath of Fire... (WTF?)
Chthon
Did the bladestorms have any points in Axe Mastery before? And do monsters care about weapon reqs?
Sir Pandra Pierva
i have never notice them care about reqs or mods in the game ever. Conjure frost and dropping a firey weapon...yes I know drops are random but the irony made me laugh.
also i still ahve no problem against them but then again
[skill]Blinding Surge[/skill][skill]epidemic[/skill]
that always makes the charr cry
so I still pretty much just ignore the melee at all times

Also, something about them seemed harder even before this last update. They still aren't really hard, but they do seem more annoying than before. I just can't quite put my finger on it.
HawkofStorms
Also, keep in mind that the destroyer's sell heal is bugged and doesn't do anything (much like the bugged Margonite special skills).
Ultra Mega
I also found them more difficult. I wasn't paying attention and almost got wiped by a Charr group in NM, was definately a surprise.
