Sin in slavers ?
Speed Arthas
Ok the questions is, can Assassins do Slaviers ?
And if it is possible, which builds ?

Any class can do slavers. As for builds mobius/death blossom is probably your best bet.
Angra
What he said. I'd consider critical defenses and critical agility.

No group will accept us. I feel left alone by Anet.
Sins won't get accepted in any HM farm group, except Ursanway.

so then start your own group or do ursanway

All depends in your ability. Believe it or not. I have done slayers with a Sin as the tank.
Velise_Snowtorm
No reason a sin can't do it. My sin will be finishing EotN soon, which will include doing all the dungeons. I've already done Slavers just fine as a Mesmer.
It's the fact you want to join PuGs, who use very basic cookie cutter teams, that prevents you from going. Round up some friends/allies/guildies and do a run. Good guilds work with what they have and improvise their teams.

Okay, let's finish the discussion about not getting accepted in a group and post specific builds.
I posted a stance sin somewhere else,
using Gladiator's Defense with high-tactics.
Any opinions?

Sir Pandra Pierva
it works but personally with Pug sin just really wont work since most pugs really can't work well in Slavers

If you try to tank, then there is even less of a chance that a PuG will let you in. Play to your strengths; 'Sins are there to kill stuff in PvE, leave tanking to the stupid warriors.

Crit Defences/Agility is not the definite answer to every question. Do not try to tank with that or you will get owned. You will be faced with:
a- Heavy disenchantment.
b- Massive spell damage, especially at Forge and Selve.
c- Spammable unblockable attacks.
d- Touchers.
No group will take you as damage dealer and I doubt people will join you if you start a PUG in such capacity. I doubt any monk will wont to have you wade into monster backline and:
a- Get potentially 2 shot.
b- Cause aggro leak that will make monsters attack other squishy party members.
c- You will most likely get hit with Faintheartedness + Insidious Parasite and Maybe SS + Reckless Haste too.
Everything may sound good on paper but in reality it is not. Your best bet would probably be to H/H or maybe find an UB group if your rank in Norn is high enough, which wont be easy either.
I am NOT categorically denying that other setups than the currently common one may make it, but out of 100% of the times Duncan got killed 98.5% probably were obsi+nuker+monk+necro+any/FS.

Any option other then PuG sounds good.

Erm how about a/r? Ranger still sin.

Do it with friends and heroes. Some bits are really hard though.

People may take you as a crit barrager with FS but only if they cannot find a R/Rt or Rt/R or even E/R, sometimes. The reasons are:
a- Splinter + barrage does significantly more damage than crit-barraging.
b- You lack other useful skills from the Rit profession such as Gaze of Fury.
Still if you insist on doing SE on your sin with a PUG then try to market yourself as a crit barrager with FS. I once took such sin over a R/Rt but mainly because I felt for the guy, having a sin myself and understanding what its like to be one. We did Duncan in HM that time and he finished his SE. He maintained FS and Symbiosis [whenever needed] and that was mainly what we required him to do.
Good luck!

As mentioned before, any profession can do slavers, I've only gone in with my sin so far, been using Golden Fox Strike+Wild Strike+Death Blosson+Moebius Strike+Critical Defenses+Crical Agility+either a heal or vanguard assassin support or Swap*swap only for duncan, to help out SV necro*
As people have mentioned, sins seem to not be wanted as much, although I agree with that, sins are great profession, nice armor ignoring damage and can last a bit alone. Personally, I'd take a sin with a decent build over any war anyday.

there is the way Iv done it.
Permashadow form and still bonds from bonder + symbiosis
with permashadowform, u will do more than a normal tank cuz u almost never take dmg and casters loose enrgy while trying to cast spells at you.
the bonds are for any PbAoE dmg and to help gain more HP through symbiosis to counter the touchers.
The problem is well of profane (u will die here like 99% of PUG tanks) and u gotta be realy carefull with disenchant spirits...
also bad timing can kill ya..
the build is something like:
Shadowform
deadly paradox´
Archane echo
Channeling
feignet neutrality (to more HP and cover enchant)

HM monsters have almost endless energy, so idk what your "tank" will do as far as that goes...
as far as "tanking" at all... no
and as far as "tanking" with a sin... double no.

your best shot to do slaver's is with friends, but.. I found a way to duo forgewight.. and it seems to be faster than the normal way.. tell me if your interested in the build

Yes, Sins can do SE... and be quite effective if played well.
No, you won't get PUG groups because of retards and ignorance.
When I do SE, I'm on guard duty most of the time. Meaning, I kill anything and everything asap if they get past the Obsidian tank and start aggroing mages/"squishies." For Forgewight, I go Crit. Barrage with Pain Inverter.

When our guild does it, we run an Orders nec with lots of phys damage (especially para's).
About 95% of the time I'd say just use MS/DB but this is one of those rare occasions where Shattering assault is good in pve. When a target gets prot'd up, we switch to another fast and continue till they're all dead (no FS needed). If we had a sin spamming Shattering assault, I imagine things would be tons easier as the Stone summit prot monks are usually the only thing keeping 'em alive. If a group does have a priest (healing guy), they're usually stupid enough to run up to their wars to use Healing touch, and often die for it.
I used a similar setup to hench it on my Para, but "Save yourselves" was a huge help when dealing with the Warders. "SY" never leaves my sin's bar either. Had 2 para heroes running Cruel spear when I did it but Expel hexes/Song of purifition would've been much better.

belive it or not sins can tank.
If u are one of those NONbelivers then search for the screens where a SIN tanked DOA..

no one cares if you can tank a buhzillion mobs. its not that hard.

Any class can tank, it's not new. Some classes are just naturally efficient at it while the other classes have to work a bit or a lot harder to achieve similar results.
As for the OP's question, you can take your assassin anywhere, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, it is just a matter of adapting and knowing your role. Remember that you're a midline character.
Meaning that you can go assist the warrior with damage, trample the enemy warriors that are running to your backlines or go shut-down that caster spiking/nuking your group.
Now for the obvious question that will surely pop out: Why not play a Ranger or a Mesmer instead since they also do the role? The answer is also obvious: Cause we like the assassin profession. IMO its the most fun and enjoyable class to play.
Anyways, there's lots of builds are there. Aside the Dagger builds there's also Deadly Arts, Spear/Scythe with Way of the Master, etc. I haven't been to Slaver's Exile so I can't give much tips in that other than understanding what positioning is.
EDIT: Critical Barrage is just eww.

For those of you that managed to take a Sin with H/H through slavers, what heroes and henchies did you use?
I can't seem to kill the Justiciar Thommis, I have absolutely no problem with the mobs before it, using Frozen soil in addition to the standard DB+Mobieus, but I can't seem to do anything about the Justicar's mob (is it even possible to separate that mob?)
Tried sab's 3 necro + Cynn Herta Mehnlo and Lina, but no dice... any suggestions?
Can't seem to find anything on the Justiciar except that he should be the easiest... am I doing something wrong?

I can see u speak without testing..
Imagine HM eles have 150energy.. imagine they regen 3.3energy per sec...
In 10 seconds they can try to use almost all spells they have draining energy to near 0 (if u dont belive test!!!) After that its true they can cast agains u.... the problem is that take some 5 secs between casts, so they cant be perma casting heavy hitting spells like before... belive it or not... that takes a lot of pressure from your monks when tanking goes wrong...
and note.... tanking is not stupid.... belive it or not and although I dont like it, u DO need it im some areas of the game

Just believe in yourself I have Obsi Tanked Slavers quite a few times successfully.
If you get to Umbral, just spam that you're a tank and hope to get accepted. I always did it with either friends or being the leader of a party.

Two Sins "tanking" (lol your monks should have the prot prayers..soa ftw) with SY on each of them works quite well actually...
RavagerOfDreams
my guild takes a sin/ranger with swap and frozen soil to manage spirits and prevent rezzing, this is for the Duncan part only though. However my guild trusts me enough to let me come during the other parts
