How to farm for obsidian?

As of now, I was planning on farmnig 160-180 ectos, but today I farmed uw 4-5 times and only got 1 ecto. I want to know if I should keep doing uw, or go somewhere else. I have 15 ectos atm, so if anyone can give me some ideas, I'd love it

I've mentioned this in a couple other threads before, I gave up farming UW for ectos long ago, instead I switched to the first part of Tomb with the E/A sliver armor/shadow of haste/shadow form build. There are 6 dryders and 3 riders that can drop ectos and try to take out at least all the dryders and 1-2 riders each run (takes too long to kill all the riders) and restart. On my best run I killed all the dryders and 2 of the 3 riders in less than 4 mins, the overall time:kill ratio is prolly the same if not better than UW and you don't have to pay to get in. You won't make a lot money running this since you don't kill a lot stuff, and the drop rate for ectos depends on your luck, I've gone through double digit runs w/out an ecto and then 3 ectos in 2 runs, but if I was on a mission to farm ectos I'd take this place over UW anyday.

DoA runs......make about an armbrace in like 3-5 runs and you can do about 6 runs a day(gets really boring) but its a good money maker. I9 got my monks obby armor in like 4 days farming DoA... gl

Duoing seems to drop a lot more ectos, though its best to do this with a friend.
I've done W/RT build and have gotten that same crappy luck as you. 3 Runs no ectos its just not worth the effort XD. You can try doing that Chakbeh village mission in the start of NF, most people say do a mission if you are getting bad drops... I doubt it really works but you can try!

Hmm, I may try tombs. And sorry to sound like a lazy butt, but do you have a build for DoA? Also, what I sorta do. I shall look also, but if its easy and not too much if you have something on hand, that'd be great Thanks.

There was one day I ran the W/Rt through UW and got 5 ectos in one run. Drops were a little weird that day, but I usually average 1 or 2 ecto a run when I do that (and don't screw up and get killed in chamber).

Do you take group by group, or combine some? I did get 3 ectos my first run then 4 my 2nd 3 days ago. So I'm not sure yet, as of now, DoA or Tomb sounds good. But I may stick with uw if drops increase better, also, I may need more info on what farmnig to do in DoA :P

It seems that the ecto drops recently have been pretty poor in UW. Me and guildie have gone in in HM with 600/Smite, and we just gave up-out of 20 tries we only got 3 ectos-and that's total!
But then I hear some people get 1-2 ectos per run with VwK, so there might be something there.

I believe that Jesse is talking about HM full runs. You get like 2 margonite, 4 stygian, 6 torment and 8 titan gems I believe and runs are around 2 hours to 4 hours vastly depending on the quality of your team.

meet up in Gate of Anguish, either have a monk with healers boon, or mimicry + LoD. Or bring any other profession with Ursan Blessing and R6+ norn.

Yea I'd say DoA is your best bet if you have decent LB/Norn. Ursanway has made DoA extremely easy. Ambraces still sell for a lot.

Hmm, all thanks for all the help, as of now, my assasin is the only one who beat nf, is there anything I can do with him? Also, do I have to party up with prob like a friend or something? Also, if at all possible, does anyone know of a guide for this?

If you want Ectos alot of them. Do Duo 600/Smiter Etneral Wasteland(HM) from what my friend told me it can be done with Hero and you can make rofly 4 ectos a run. He and his Friend went they both got 4 in there. Look at it Spectrals have 4% of Ecto Drop rate, x this by what 16 for all 3 grps(3-5-8) got better chance of Ecto Drop.

I farm UW with a Rt/W and try to do not more then 2 runs a day. And i get an average of 1-2 ecto's a run. It takes about 20 minutes a run. And with the additional drops you somewhat earn your entry fee back ( if you don't get killed )

Well, as of now, I don't think CoF loads for me, so thats a bummer for me. And also, I want to beat eotn so I can get hm and get to r6 norn on my sin, then I shall start to farm DoA for a bit, just to see how things work out. But, my pc doesn't load Rata Sum either, so I need to wait til i go over to a friends house, or I get him to do the one quest for me. But as of now, I'll be gonig from topk to uw, then eventually DoA

Well, your not always garrenteed 4 ectos, and how long do CoF runs go for? And if its not too much to ask, anyone got some builds for me?

Never run CoF, but I have taken runs for it. Speed depends on a few things, but the fastest trip I had was ~30 minutes, longest was ~1.25 hours. If the people yuo run bring LoD, you can cash in on the hidden treasures. When I take a run, I will pay 2k-2.5k, and leave the dungeon with 4-5k profit. Which means I would have made a 6-7k profit without paying the runner. Add in the fact that you get chests to open for Treasure Hunter, golds to ID (drops and chests) for Wisdom, and a load of Dwarf reputation points, and it is a good money maker.
Runner gets 6 people to go, makes ~5-7k + 12-15k = 17-22k for rough 30 minutes of work. Then consider selling anything that drops that you don't need, and you may get a significant increase. Ruby Djinn Polymock pieces, rare skin golds, etc.
