Hi there, I'm more or less quite new to Guild Wars and stuff so I've got a question if anyone is willing to give me some advice
After returning to guild wars (i quit after only playing for a week or two), I guess I made a low level ranger/elementalist, but I would like to try something else more fun and interesting. I don't want to keep making new characters after trial and error in attempt to find the right profession so I was looking for some suggestions for profession and secondary profession, you don't even have to give me a build if you don't want..

Thanks for any help, it's greatly appreciated.
btw i did use search and wasn't able to find much

EDIT: Ah yes, I forgot to mention that I only have Prophecies

It all depends on how you like to play.

If you want to go toe-to-to with your enemy, Warrior is the way to go.

If you prefer to zap things or set 'em on fire from a distance, Ele's the thing to be.

If you like commanding an army of undead or putting hexes on things, make a Necro.

If you prefer supporting your party by keeping them alive, a Monk is the thing.

If you want to screw up your enemy's efforts to kill you and yours, make a Mesmer.

Since you didn't mention which chapter you have, I'll leave off the factions & Nightfall professions.

There's more to each profession than what's mentioned above, as each one has multiple uses and can be very effective and fun to play. (That's the beauty of multiple character slots).

ranger is a real nice choice i perfer rangers secondary does not really matter on a ranger they are flexible and its fun to play whit.also theres a point on the game where you can change your secondary but you should try them all alsmot every 1 does

I'd suggest ranger as your primary for a beginner. they have great survivability, and a diverse range of skills and stuff. later on they are still very useful for farming and stuff too, unlike mesmers or something, that have very few PvE uses.

i dunno im kinda new too
but i think that necro is fun
and monk for secondary i think is good to keep yourself alive when you don't trust your monks
(i used to be ele warrior and i always died cause i had no good healing spell or running thing so i switched to ele monk. its a lot better healing breeze is great)

Its generally considered that warrior, ranger, elementalist and necromancer are fairly good professions for beginners. Monk and mesmer are usually considered the harder to get used to/more game experience needed professions.

In regards to secondary professions, you cant go wrong with monk for the reusable resurrects.

Also my ranger started out as R/E also, however I usually only use primary professions skills on my skill bar unless I want to do something special.

Another tip, if you make several characters, try to choose a secondary profession that you have not used on any other character, that way you can unlock skills as you go through prophecies, so your future other characters will have them unlocked (available for purchace from the skill trader) earlier in the game.

Have fun.
