Hello guys, got myself a new pc today and decided to install GW on it again. so i put on the first one's cds and was done with the install itself, then it started updating and went into the game. i used my old account and pass to get in and all of a sudden i see all my chars with starter armor oO all the armor ive worked so hard to get is now gone, ill probably come out a retard from asking this question but i just want to make it clear for myself. i chose one of the characters and its now downloading 15,546 files. i dont know if that will bring back my old armor cause there is no way i am going to play this game again to get the items ive worked and farmed my arse off for the past 25 months to get.. any ideas?

Thanks.

Changing computer in no way changes your character.
The starter armour was probably the only armour skin included in the CD you had, so it used that as a place holder

No, you don't have to do everything again. Your game simply doesn't know what they were wearing. After you log in with them, you should find everything how you left it.

Due to the fresh install you don't have any of the images downloaded that you used previously. If you sit at the character select screen for awhile you should notice that they eventually load. That's how it worked for me before, anyway.

-edit-
If you edit your shortcut path and add '-image' (without the tick marks) after the file path (which should be in quotes) the next time you start the client it will download all the images you need from all three games. It's a very lengthy process, but you won't have to download them again. When it's done it will automatically close, then you just remove the -image from your target path and you should be good to go.

To edit the shortcut:
- Right-click your Guild Wars shortcut/icon and select 'Properties'.

- In the 'Target' section, it should say something like:
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"
Change that to:
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image
- Hit 'Apply', 'OK', then click on the icon like you normally would to start GW. It should start up the normal loading screen and start downloading a ridiculous amount of files. Go read a book or something while you wait - When that finishes it will close automatically.

-Go back to the Properties of your GW icon and remove the '-image' from the target path. It should look like this again:
Code:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"
- Hit the Apply and OK buttons again, then start up GW like normal and you should be good to go.

Hope that helps.

Just to confirm, this is correct.

You don't have all the textures downloaded, either a full -image or loading the character once will update that select character on the character selection screen.

Also, install from the latest game instead of Prophecies. That way you won't have to download as much vie the -image switch.
