Can someone help me out here? I want to sell this on the auction but I've no idea what the base price should be. I looked on the base prices in this forum, but I was thrown off slightly after I saw this: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/auction/item.php/id=6599/

The current bid on that staff is 700k, but the apparant base price for Galigord's Stone Staff is 23k even though it has better stats. Is that ghostly one only worth a lot because it's ghostly?

Galigord's Stone Staff
· Energy+10
· Earth damage: 11-22 (req. 9 Earth Magic)
· Improves Casting speed using Earth Magic skills (Chance 20%)
· Improves skill recharge using Earth Magic skills (Chance 20%)
· Energy +5
· Enchantments last 20% longer

galigord is a green and therefore isnt rare in a sense there are hundreds or thousands just like it, and yes gold ghostlys arent common good ghostlys are rare ... that ghostly is amazing besides ... its globals not just earth so imo the ghostly is much better than galigords

pretty much, yes.

ghostly staves are very rare, especially with perfect mods like that.

furthermore, a lot of people would prefer to use a staff that effects all skills not just earth.

i know it seems bizzare that so many people would dislike green items simply because, well, they're green, but thats the way it is. people love unique stuff, and that ghostly is probably alone in the GW world

Ah right, I hadn't taken in the 'using earth magic skills' parts. Do you know what I should try to sell it for, then?

There are at least two Galigord's on auction on this site at the moment.

That's probably a HOH chest drop.
its expensive because it has:
requirement 9
rare skin
double global modifier
+5 energy
20% enchantments

Green drops are easy to obtain, but random. which is why they are semi cheap/expensive.
