Did Geeksquad just scam me?
Toxage
My parents purchased a computer for me from bestbuy a long time ago. They upgraded it with an ATI Radeon X800XL graphics card. But a little while ago my computer had some problems so we took it to bestbuy and the graphics card was broken but they replaced it under warranty. It was replaced with a different video card. They said that they didn't have my card in stock, so replaced it with a better one. I looked at the price of the graphics card that they gave me and it is only 60ish dollars... I find it hard to believe this was an upgrade.
My old graphics card was an ATI Radeon X800XL which was replaced with a ATI Radeon X1050 did I get scammed?
Thanks

I think you're fine, the X1050 series is newer than the X800. As for the price, what you have to remember is that the X800 was released back in like '04/'05 and would be rather cheap now. The X1050 is newer than your old one, but is still outdated compared to the latest models so it's pretty cheap too.

Looking at the review for both, I think you end up with a better graphic card...
dont use ATI so I might be wrong...

Yes. Sue them. (srsly, that card appears to be MUCH crappier)
From what i can find out, the X800XL is about equal to a geforce 6800
the x1050 is more like an fx5800ultra

I wouldnt say you are scammed, but you got a card that is about 3 times as bad as what you had.

just imagine your card is on the bottom, with about 5 fps, because it's a lot slower than even a x1300

What should I do? Should I go back to Geek Squad? I noticed that something seemd up with my games, they seemed to lag alot more often. But they exchanged graphics cards months ago.

I mean something is seriously wrong with my graphics card... It can barely run games on the lowest settings possible.

Well unlike the Nvidea all the ameritroxes buy, ATI is the budget option.
Even now the best ATI radeon card is only 3870 costs less than 200$ or less than 180 euro's. Opposed to the 8800 from nvidea costing between 300$ and 600$.
So it is quite possible you got a good(newer) 10XX ATI card for 60 bux, at least that series supports DX10 shader technolgy.
I don't think they scammed you, you didn't have a 'pimpy' video card to begin with.
I have an ATI 9800XL myself, but I'm upgradeing to a NVidea next week, because everyone seems to program on NVidea machines, making tons of games experience some kind of problems with ATI cards.
Also the XL behind a ATI cards number means it has a bigger fan, this way you can over clock it without halving the life span because of increased heat.
If you don't plan on over clocking it the XL ain't worth much, I tried to over clock it but that made even word run unstable with an ATI driver errors... O.o OMG WTF
I did get a higher FPS though, for the time it wasn't crashing.

best ati cards are not 200$
To the O.P. -
I think if months have gone by you are probably out of luck, all you can do is complain and see what happens...

The 3780 is a kind of laptop card that only just beats integrated...
shame on me

You could complain and see what happens. If that doesn't work, a better graphics card wouldn't cost too much.
