"Planet" Tyria is very, very small.

Although it won't be in metric so mostly only americans will know what distance that is, it can still be measured.

Saying "it's just a game" in a lore forum is basically saying "it's just pixels" to those who stare at the naked characters in pre. Pointless to state and Obvious.

Errrr...

/facepalm

-looks at the time of the measurement post-

I... don't... know... how that happened... Most people can figure out a foot/feet compared to meters as is (yard is roughly a meter, and then all that you said). I guess I was out of it... even though it was the middle of the day here... And I guess I thought "high number of feet=might be a tad confusing"... /facepalm again.

you can clearly see that everything was scaled down, look at the castle behind Lion's Arch..it has like 10 floors bunch of houses(well..we can call those drawing houses) when you look at it...it must be as tall as 3 big warriors lol

It's been pretty much agreed that it was scaled down. However, what I was doing with the map, is finding what the current scale is.

I'd say we can multiply it by 3 or 4 to get the real scale, maybe 5 or 6 even.

Just commenting in general on something that was said earlier:
To me its quite obvious that you have to scale the world down, and I' m not very interested in knowing the exact distances from here to there in miles or kilometres etc.
But I have always wondered where all the people live and grow their food. In large parts of the world there arent really any cultivated land or any human homes. A few spread towns thats all, and then of course Kaineng. I could have wished for a few more housing areas here and there, and maybe with a few more buildings that could be entered.

Another thought, Im one of these people who love to go around and explore every little corner. I would love if you could enter larger parts of the map, just "to see what is there"
I wouldnt mind if much of it just turned to be rather monotonous, meaning that im not asking for detailed content and lots of new creatures in every corner^^
An old thing comes to mind, when Grenths Footprint was opened up in a previously inaccessible area. Its basically just more of the same as in rest of south Shiverpeaks.
When the new enlargened map was introduced prior to the release of EOTN i was looking forward to explore the shore of that occean in the northwest part. I was a bit disappointed that you only get to see that tiny bit of land thats Verdant Cascades.
So my wish for something to do before gw2 is opening up more land areas on the existing maps, and maybe add a special mission or quest in some of them.

raven, im pretty sure i speak for everyone when I say I was disappointed in the lack of area that GWEN covered. Compared to the enlarged map, GWEN covers maybe half of it.

There are farms found on Shing Jea and pre-searing Ascalon. Other than that, just your 2-5 man "villages." They could have added a few more farms.

I agree with this, more areas would be nice. I was expecting twice the explorable areas by the texture of the map (which mostly revolved in Charr Homelands/Far Shiverpeaks boarders and that island).

Less then half, sadly. Very less. About 1/4.

I agree, I love exploring for the sake of finding new landmarks and things. I was excited, thinking that the NW part of GWEN would be the endgame, similar to prophecies. sadly i was mistaken and even though some of the dungeons made up for that, i still like exploring above-grounds more. I hope they make GW2 very big and explorable.

A positive way to look at the stuff ANet didn't explore in EN is that they are saving the looks for GW2. I hope so at least.

Twice the scaling size, and more areas to explore please.

I'm surprised you all haven't mentioned one thing.

There is no walking. Everyone runs, top speed, all the time.

I'm also assuming that the explorable world is not the entire planet, merely a section of it. But to explain how it doesn't take long at all to get from one town to another, is that everyone is running. To further my point, take our Middle-ages. Armies moved at the speed of marching feet. 15 miles a day was not an unattainable speed, and this is moving hundreds of people at a time. Twice that or more was easily reachable for a small party of people, moving fast.

There actually is walking. Hexes and certain skills cause the characters to walk. Also NPCs walk, a LOT. And then with running skills, we could run faster. As for the explorable areas not the whole world - that has been brought up many times.

Yeah i think its become obvious that the continent of Tyria doesnt take up the whole planet. Anet had plans for Utopia to be set somewere (probably to the west of Tyria), so i'm guessing they havent just created Tyria,Cantha and Elona with "Okay thats the world of Tyria done" in mind.

We'll have to wait until Guild Wars 2 to see if they expand on their original idea of Utopia by adding an expansion that takes place on a new continent.Of course we'll probably be waiting for quite a few years if they go along the path of Tyria -> Cantha -> Elona.
