Anet and Suggestion Forums
Computerwiz1990
I have a serious question. Does Anet really take into considerations all the suggestions on the suggest forum? Do they at all try to implament all that into the game?
Mr. G
no as most are rubbish im afriad, between the endless calls for the same impractical idea and the "Buff this skill so my build works right" theres little good there
but aparently they do check....

No.
Really, no. Because bad suggestions shouldn't be implemented into the game, there's a little guy filtering out those two-three good suggestions every odd lunar eclipse. The good suggestions are then read one year after and (perhaps) implemented two years after.

I've Tried it here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10242102.
None of which were made , still waiting for the Phoenix Hom bug to be fixed too.

No, as 99.9% of suggestions are utter trash.
BenjZee
and obviosuly they cant impliment all ideas. For one some arnt feasible, another reason is that Anet doesn't have to add extra stuff and thirdly, if they made alot of changes then everyone would start requestign alot more.

Actually there is a thread where someone asked that the faction fireworks displays that can only be used in hzh or cavalon be allowed in guild halls and now it is so.
Mordakai
I'd like to see a list of suggestions that were implemented.
Of course, you could never prove it came directly from the suggestions, but one thing I know was suggested was being able to purchase extra character slots.

Fool is not the one who asks but the one who gives.

I'd assume a couple of things done to the game have been influenced by suggestions made by players, though.
Free Runner
They take a few small ideas in. A month ago someone on GWO posted an idea for a title that grants points for using fireworks. Many suggested a Festival Hat Keeper for the Guild Hall. Ideas that while they dont make a huge impact on the game are nice to have around. But there have been many stupid suggestions (See: The thread last year in which someone wanted half the skills and ritualists deleted, the thread about entrance to elite areas being restricted to Kind of a Big Deal) so i'm glad they stick to their current stance.

Most of the good suggestions where added:
- Insignia
- Inscrptions
- Hard Mode
- Heroes
- Templaates
- PvP item creation panel.
- Zaishen Chest
- End-mission chests.
- Tomes
And the list goes on. There are a lot. All good things, all good.

Honestly I know they do check but look at 95% of the posts made here. Simply whinning, cursing, and throwing fits. After reading just a few threads I wouldn't put much stock in GURU myself anymore. Look at the rubbish written and the comments made by many. They do check but honestly I would imagine they would refuse to shift thru the endless posts of garbage. It would be nice to see the forums cleaned up and some " real discussion" go on but I've long given up on that happening at GURU anymore. Like many I simply look over a few things and if something peaks my interest I might respond but when you see the majority of posts as utter garbage or flame fests there is little hope that ANET would take things serious if many gamers refuse to do so. One can also not expect a company to bend over backwards to their every need.

MOST suggestions are utter garbage. A lot of stuff on skill balances is just a person who gets owned by a skill arguing against a guy who abuses a skill about it being balanced or not. In fact, many are contradictory. For example, how the heck would a.net be able to "make inscriptions world wide" and "eliminate inscriptions," both of which are actual suggestions on these forums.
That said, some good stuff is used. For example...
There was a big thread here about people wanting to reopen the catacombs post-searing. A lot of people also wanted to find out what happened to Ascalon and the Charr. So, we got the Depths of Tyria and GW:EN.
People kept asking for a bard class, so we got the paragon.
People wanted a rogue class, so we got the sin.
People want more "non combat armor" so we got sunglasses, etc.

Last time I heard an A Net rep comment on suggestions was at GWO, I believe about a year back. Gaile simply stated that if the suggestion is concise and to the point, Yes they do read them.
Molock
They listen to the sensible suggestions. For example someone made a thread about how people were entering the lux/kurz base in AB. I and some other suggested that they add more base defenders and one week later they did just that. Party animal was also a suggestion made on GwG

WTF THIS SUCKS UN-NERF THIS !
I HATE ANET ! THEY KILLED THE GAME
ect. ect. ect. will have to start being deleted or edited by the Mods. The sad part is they can't keep up with it and anytime someone mentions a change, suggestion, ect. it seems to always degrade into a flame fest or trolling thread.
Now if you actually read what was in my reply you might want to stop and consider that folks are not going to take anything serious or even bother to read something if it starts with WTF ! or sounds like a bunch of grade school kids whinning, but then again I was just trying to insight something according to you. Sadly what I wrote about abounds in just about every thread within these forums.
There were valid points made in several post as well as my own what did yours contribute again ?

And they're right!
Liberations
It's funny how people make accusations without knowing a rat's butt about what happens over on the other end.
A lot of suggestions in Sardelac have been implemented into the game. And remember Sardelac isn't the only place ArenaNet gets suggestions from.
And really does a game company have to listen to everything the players ask for? I've seen some pretty stupid suggestions tossed in there as well...

The definitely listen, and i'm sure the ideas influence a lot of in game additions, but there's not many ideas I believe they follow to the letter.

You bet, my original Hard Mode suggestion had 5 grades of difficulty, XD.

Also, how do you work out vanquishing? do you have to vanquish each level? Are they all worth the same?
Yet people look at this like a "simple suggestion". It's ridiculous.
MithranArkanere
Nah. It had no vanquishing. Just changes in armor and health, and specially AI. And finally in drops. The eaiest tier had no drops at all, while the highest had all items dropping near-max and req 8..11.
I think that the current hard mode it's a bit better. Grades of AI was the main point, and they added that. NM monsters are a bit more dumb.

Not all of these were through suggestions, but many were.
Zinger314
The primary reason most suggestions aren't implemented (the secondary reason being that most of them suck) is that ArenaNet, by law, cannot directly copy a suggestion from unofficial forums.
The only reason Suggestion forums exist is to divert the bad ideas from the central forum, i.e. Riverside Inn.
Ironically, it appears that it's not working.

Actually, Suggestions forums are to keep track of the 'general thoughts' of the players.
First, they see what people want... although they do not always see that clearly.
Then, they see what they can do, and that's quite easy, since they are the ones that know better how the game works.
And finally, they see how much time they have to make that thing, and that's the greatest limiter when it comes to which ideas are finally added.
Once they know what to do, how to do it and they have time to do it, they usually do it.
