Fest NPS's
Killed u man
WHY, WHY did you remove the Lunar Token Traders?
I still have 2 Stacks I got from Beetle Racing. What do I have to do now? Wait till next year? In other words, till GW is completely dead and abandonned, when there will mayby be 1 guy still playing?
FFS, There better be an "extra" event next week. Or just bring back the NPC'S for another week, so people can actually trade in there recently accumulated stacks...
Why do you guys lack any form of common sense? (Why remove NPC'S for rewards? There is mayby people that still get lunar tokens few minutes before event ends...)

Anet said it would end at 8pm GMT or whatever so it's your fault for not turning them in.
Chik N Nuggets
shut up and stop complaining.. should have done it last night.

I think you need to QQ moar.
Feathermoore Rep
Yea, your just stupid. No offense. But thats all it comes down to.
They CLEARLY made it evident as to when the traders were going to disappear. The said all the festival events would run through Midnight PST with the culimnating finale, however the festival traders would remain until Monday Noon PST.
Should have actually read the event info before cramming in your password to log in and run around in the festival. GG no Re.

By the way, WHY do they remove them anyways??? It makes no sense, atleast give people a week time to trade in their stuff!
Note:
When you do something stupid (unlogic) BUT you mention you were going to do it does NOT make it less stupid...

WinterSnowblind
With Wintersday this was understandable, we didn't really know when the traders were going to be removed, but people still should have known to do everything before hand. However, in this case they made sure to state well in advance when the NPC's would be gone. If you have left overs it's your own fault.

Event ended last nite at Midnite pst, I woke up this morning at 6:00am opened my red gift bags, got more tokens, traded them in at 7:30am. So they didnt just removed them right away.
Jongo River
Until recently, you could usually go to district one and find the NPC's hanging around for several hours, after they where removed from higher districts. I've no-idea why they changed that, because it used to make an excellent buffer zone.
fowlero
Lunar tokens are still dropping which is imo stupid since they've apparently removed the npc's.
Ah well shit happens.

Look, I get you guys point, Anet gives a date, but WHY does it have to be the same day the event ends? Common sense tells us that NOT everyone will be able to make a deadline so soon after the ending... A week bufferzone is just better :s

cool thread

Removing quest NPC's etc makes sense. For those who have tokens, but only been able to get on, just now or whatever, are screwed.
It's fine and dandy to say, well it's your own fault, tough, but that's not very fair.
I would have thought it a reasonable assumption to believe that the token collectors at least would remain for at least a brief while longer to enable people to get rid of the last ones that they have.
Some people have tokens, some have red gift bags they haven't opened yet. If they get lunar tokens what happens? ah yes, they're screwed. Not brightest move. Could at least have removed them in a proper update, instead of in a sneaky one so people could trade all theirs in before updating

got like 2 stacks today, they should just have let the frikin npcs stay there, whats the point of removing them that fast anyway???

You were given adequate warning this event.
The finale finished at 12 midnight. You had 12 further hours after that time to finish up whatever you were doing, and cash in your tokens.

This is exactly why I dumped my red gift bags before I went to bed last night...the danger is too high that you'll be stuck with a year-long wait.

By the way "sell 2 stacks" for 10g each, when they are woth atleast 10 times as much? N ty
Hold on for a year? N ty
Actually give us a week time to trade in our stuff, which would be the "smartest" thing to do? Yeshpleash

I feel for the OP also. According to the Official Wiki (that the GW client links to) the actual end of the event was listed as 5PM PST.
That page listed that as the end time from 16:13, 9 February 2008 up until 05:31, 11 February 2008.
I for one would just like to see Anet keep things consistent. If Anet wants an official Wiki then maybe they sould try and make sure that the info listed is correct.

Well -they did let us know the collectors would be removed at the end of the event to technically we can't complain.
Nevertheless, it's one of those decisions that doesn't make a lot of sense. Leaving collectors a little longer would be handy and would cause no real problem in the game (after all, they did it last year). The script to remove them is automated (I suspect) and it would not cause any harm to simply set them a few hours or a day after the quest npcs disappear.
Common sense, which prevailed last year, would normally say leave them a little longer - hence, I suspect this is a passive aggressive way of ANet showing the players who is in charge.

It's an EVENT. The whole point is that it doesn't last long, that's what makes it interesting. If they left the NPCs for a day more someone would complain as to why they didn't leave them a week. People just can't be pleased.. period.
st1001
Yes it is just an EVENT, but why not leave the NPC's a little longer?
Since you can play the games right up until the end of the event,
then the NPC's should be there so you can turn in those rewards.
If you remove the NPC's, then the rewards you received are worthless.
If Anet wants the event to end at 12pm then maybe the games should
end an hour or two before that.

Irony, got to love it.

It was a bad move on Anets part. A global in game message when the NPC's are disseapering would have been better. Having the decorations up and tokens dropping doesnt tell much about when the event ends, infact that keeps people thinking its still going so they invest their time in an event thats already over.
ITs like buying sports tickets without them telling you when the game starts or finishes, and they keep selling them to you even after the game is over. The tokens are your sports ticket, the time you invest getting the tokens is like buying a sporting event ticket, so imagine someone selling you a ticket to a game thats already over at full cost!! Yeah sure you could have went to the box office and asked if the game was still going, but they usually have the start time printed on the tickets themselves without the need to do extra searching to find out. And they definately woulndt be selling tickets when the game is already over, except scammers. Im not saying Anet scammed us intentionally, but they sure acted like scammers, allowing confusion and a lack of information to get people to buy or invest their time in something thats already finished. Refund please.

Ah yes, of course. This is the society that requires a warning about hot liquid on their coffee cups. How could I forget.

But you're not paying for the tokens. And heaven forbid people might actually want to do a rollerbeetle race because it's fun, not to just farm tokens.

on the Official Wiki. I don't think that most of us here
need to have our hands held, but maybe just more accurate info.
And as was said by others, if you are going to give out rewards/items
that need to be turned into an NPC, then maybe that NPC
should be there for a little while after the rewards/items stop dropping.
Just my two cents.

They should've warned us..o wait, they did.
They should've made the warning easily noticed..o wait, login screen.
If they left them there a month, there'd still be QQing, there is always QQing.
If, as you suggested, they stopped races early to avoid this, ppl would have lined up QQing they missed an hour of beetleing. Maybe not you, but I gaurantee someone would.

It doesn't matter WHEN they ended it, someone would be saying the same thing you are and they would be just as wrong.

+1 on above idea, those tokens are free stuff from the event
you lose nothing

There was plenty of advance warning. You missed out. Sell your tokens, stick them on a mule for next year, whatever. Doesn't matter to anyone but you TBQH.

Heh, I'm not complaining they removed the collectors, but I do have to ask why are the quests still active and why are they still dropping? If I can't turn them in (which is fine) then they shouldn't waste my drops on them.

I completely agree that no matter how long you leave the NPC's in the game, someone will complain.
That is the nature of a public forum. I just would like to see more consistency in the way that Anet communicates with it's player base.

Edit: Look, my point is there are MANY avenues of information available. I get tired of the whining about "I didn't know" - you have PLENTY of opportunity to know.
