Will prices for the Celestial Pig soar now or go down..

I doubt they will go down. There is now no way of receiving them, and there are people who missed the event. They won't soar, either - there isn't really that much demand for them... just that they won't bottom out.
shrouded^god
I assume they'll stay the same...perhaps drop slightly...

Because of what it took to get them, lots of the people who got them probably dedicated them already. If anyone left theirs undedicated to sell, they're gonna be looking for a decent payout. Especially if they had to buy or claimed to have bought regular mini pigs at 30k each to trade for the celestial one. By that figure it would put the celestial pig at about 150k.
gone
it only matters to the people who cashed in 5 for 1.
I think it will drop, just like other junk.

Thanks to dedication:
- Not dedicated: Rising and rising the less they are left unless they make celestial miniatures drop somewhere else. (And extremely rare drop from the celestial creatures in Nahpui would do) A possible "I have the last one. Who pays more?" must be prevented at all costs.
- Dedicated: Going down and down the more dedicated miniatures there are.
Some people jut dedicate the miniature and then sell it. I keep them all, though.
Miniatures are a bit troublesome. They should have a 'limited life'. Something that destroys them and an unlimited unfarmable source for them. For the Birthday miniatures there is no problem, but for the rest... ah... something likea way to give them to an NPC and get them destroyed, and the you can recreate them like with the hat maker. The system should keep track of the existin miniaturtes, so the undedicated number of them stay fixed.

Well, the supply is going to remain the same, and can only go down (if people delete them). If the demand remains high, the price will eventually raise. If the demand gets lower, the price will eventually drop.
I'm guessing the demand will get lower.

Normal economies doesn't always apply guildwars, because something randomly will happen no one will predict and then bam the economy explodes.
But mostly likely dedicated will only go down, and undedicated ones will only go up, as its been pointed out because the supply is fixed.

Anyone want to hazzard a guess for unded and dedicated piggies will sell for?

I really want one and hope they will come down in price. >_>
Not paying 100k+ x ectos for one. ;_;

I'm thinking that in time, a lot of the people who scrambled to pay 100k+ for them will cool on the idea, be in a bind for money for the next big thing, or want to free up storage. It'll be easy as hell to get a dedicated one if you're not picky, and if you hit the right person at the right time, you can probably get a decent deal on an undedicated.
I wouldn't count on undeds going very far below 50k, though.

What about undedicated regular piggies? Any chance they'll have some value? Since the trade off was 5 to 1, I imagine that removed quite a number of them from the population.
genofreek
I doubt it. The ones who wanted pigs already bought them or had them given away free.

1. Normal minature pig will drop like a lead weight. Why? It's a freaking pig. The major value ascribed to it was the ability to trade it in. Now that its only valuable avenue is gone, so will be its value.
2. Celestial miniature pig will temporarily drop, and then start to steadily climb in value. Why? The newness will wear off, people will realize that it's pretty indistinguishable from a rat, and will start to sell them off. As they become dedicated, more people will start to seek them out, which will cause the price to rise.

FWIW I've just visited all major towns and tried to trade an undedicated Celestial Rat for an undedicated Minipig. No takers.
Hamfast
I don't much care for the Celestial Mini-Pig anyway... it looks just like the Celestial Rat unless you're standing right on top of it looking closely. How are you going to make people envious of your wonderful piggy if they take it for a common rat and don't give it a second glance?
Now if for some reason we're still here in 2012 and get a Celestial DRAGON...

Celestial, that makes sense. Reg, they were effing crazy.
Rothaga
It all depends on how well its liked, will people say "I NEED that minipet!", or will people say, "What a crappy minipet".
genofreek
Well, taking into consideration that it looks like the rat unless you're looking closely and it won't be the hot new thing forever, plus it's still a silly PIG mini... I think the price will lower somewhat. It isn't obvious and awesome like Mallyx, Djinn, or Greased Lightning.
HawkofStorms
Demand will drop and so will the price.
People only want them because they are new. Once the "OMG a shiney new mini" affect wears off, prices will plummet.

I suspect people are still unsure what the price of minipigs should be, and are unwilling to trade for that reason. Will do another "want to trade: my unded CELESTIAL RAT for your unded normal MINI PIG" run later.

ANet should have saved the Celestial idea for the (presumably) better effects of GW2.
On the thread topic, I imagine the price will head down to 40-50K, once sellers realise that anyone willing to pay higher, already has. I think people will resist selling lower than that, because of he amount they likely had to invest to get one.
Pleikki
I guess it go down but slowly

undedicated: up (less of them)
dedicated: down (more of them)

I think it's going to go down, for both the Pig and the Rat. There was little demand for them during the event, besides the players that absoloutely needed to get the "hard to get Celestial Pig". Now that the excitement is gone, I don't see people rushing to try and get one.
The fact neither of them seem to be very popular won't help. I personally quite like both, but the general consensus seems to be that they're ugly.

I sold one for a 100k yesterday.

I still have 5 minipigs that I didn't have the chance to exchange for celestial minipigs (due to life outside of GW) so I imagine I'll just hang onto them in hopes of the opportunity to exchange them next year lol
GrimEye
In mid-term and short-term, the celestial pig will remain stable with some price fluctuation, up and down, but not much.
In the ultimate long terms - that is, when GW2 comes out - the price will plummet.
But maybe there will be GW2 tradings for some GW1 items, if the the benefits of HoM prove to be worthwhile and not crap.
My take.

I think they will go up..was in a town saw a guy spammin for half a day without any success for a celestial pig..they are getting rarer as the supply dwindles for undedicates, btw i ve seen people buy them for 100k 10e:-)!
Proff
seeing as no one really cares about the rat or pig and anyone that did got one during the festival the price will drop as soon as people figure out they don't need another mini.
aTT!kus
i think rats ill go down to ~10k and celestial pigs will stay 70-100k
Hyprodimus Prime
I wonder if the minipig collector will be there again next year.
Sir Seifus Halbred
70-100k? During the event the majority of people were trying to sell for 40k. I think the celestial minis will drop in price, just give it time, like the mini pig.
