Cartographer Title Question
Best Cat
Can anyone tell me whether or not the Ascalon Arena battleground (not the outpost) contributes to the cartogragher title? I heared that it does, but I also heard that only locations on the world map counts. So now I'm confused. An arena battlefields aren't on the world map right? Thanks in advance.

the entrance can be counted, but you no longer need any pvp area in the world map for %
Kale Ironfist
IIRC, they count, but aren't needed for 100%.
wanmoke
The actual battle arenas are on the world map so yes, they do count. But some of them are blocked off, so you can never get to them, but you're given leeway in the 100% thing, so you can still obtain the title without having them mapped.

Yeah, there is quite a bit of extra space. I was diligent in my wallhugging and reached GMC even before entering Hell's Precipice.

There is a ton of area out there; you just have to know where to look. Read the GMC guide for further information. If you've done all these things already, the only thing I can tell you is to be more careful.

Thanks, Jade. I believe I've covered the areas you listed, but I know I have a small piece of Dunes left to do.
I'm afraid your comment of "be more careful" is the prudent and operative phrase here. Thanks for the link, I will certainly review the information it contains.
Hell or high-water, I WILL get my 100%!

You may be able to get it without worrying about the areas in Frost Gate and Dunes of Despair that you use Necrotic Transversal to get to, either. I'm not sure about that, 'cause I did them, but there were a lot of little spots left when I got GMC. I had played through Prophecies and done all the quests & missions, but there were still many spots around edges that I hadn't gotten. However, I got GMC without the Arenas, (but with those NT parts), without ever doing the edges of the Southern Shiverpeaks or the Ring of Fire Islands.

Time to eat some crow. Turns out, I wasn't as diligent as I thought, early on in the in the story line. With just a little visual comparison between my zoomed-in game map and Moomanibe's map (the first one in the list), I was able to discover nearly a dozen small pockets I had missed in the Ascalon area.
Together with the small bits you can get from the Yak's and Ascalon arena holding pens, it added up to .6% which took me to 100%. (following most of the advice in the GMC thread took me from 98.5 to 99.4).
I have no doubt that I've got other small spots I missed across the continent, which leads me to agree that there must be more than a total of 100% out there to cover, which provides some nice wiggle room.
It's nice to see that a low-tech approach was all that was required to get this done. Good luck to the rest of you!

There is definitely more than enough available for 100%, but it's still close if you didn't have the pvp arenas. That's obvious enough.
But getting 100% before actually stepping foot in hell's precipice? That one sounds a little too much of a stretch. Is your character a very early one that had access to all pvp arenas before they were closed?

I can confirm that, with proper scraping, hell's precipice is not need for 100%. There's that much leeway given in Tyria. On older accounts, pre-Factions, there's even more than that, considering the old guild hall location and all the arenas. And yes, the character that didn't need Hell's Precipice was a post-Nightfall character, so no arenas were accessible to him.
