Anything moving always dodges or blocks

Is there anti kiting code? On my ranger I always try to do the initial alpha with Barrage - Splinter Weapon and rank 8 "I am the strongest" as it can do a huge amount of damage to the squishies. At the same time I flag the melee hero right into the middle of their path which usually takes any focused agro and get the casters to let lose with AOE. I have noticed on mobs like the centaurs, raptors or anything that moves slightly fast, they will always dodge or block all shots. If I wait for them to stop all shots hit and they get quite annoyed and try to do nasty things to me.

Buy a Recurve Bow, and you wont miss as much!
You can look it up the Bow types here- http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Bow

Notice also: Raptors are using "Critical Defenses"(block 75%).
Notice also: Modniir Berserkers are using "Protector's Defense"(block 75% for all adjacent allies).

It's because the game auto-aims for you, and fires at where the mob should be by the time the arrow reaches the target, provided the mob moves in a straight line and at constant speed. Normally, however, the mob detects you the instant you fire, and either stop or rush towards you - meaning you'll miss.

Fix: don't open with expensive bow attacks against enemies who've not yet detected you.

EDIT: Using a faster bow, such as a recurve, will also help a bit, as the mobs wont get as far before the arrow hits - and because you wont as often be firing at them before they've detected you, due to the shorter range.

Centaurs in the eotn have [skill]protector's defense[/skill] (aoe block), and raptors have [skill]critical defenses[/skill]. In addition, if your shot fires off, and they start moving a split second later, they will always dodge your arrows unless they are moving faster because of something like favorable winds.

Well, you could try a recurve bow if you aren't already...the direct arrow flight doesnt get dodged as often...

Or it could also be the AI is just made to do that....myself I stopped using barrage a long time ago due to similar issues, either bad guys were deliberatly dodging, or mobs would never stand close enough to get more than 2 hits at a time (and also too much scatter damage as opposed to focused damage was causing /fail for my barrage builds)

Sounds like a compounded problem for you with all the stuff you are stacking on top of barrage....It may just be time for you to run a new build.(or at least a different Elite)

I only run the 3 skills and with pretty much any opponent it hits ( when they are moving normal or casting ) I usually pull with a long bow or flatbow and use a Droknar Shortbow once things get closer. The rest of my bar is 2 interups, "go for the eyes", 24 armor banner and "Never Surrender!" I am R/P and usually use Sab's 3x necro's, one has Splinter and since I am the only Ranger she usually keeps me in Splinter the whole fight.

Anyway, it's hard to pass up a screen full of yellow 50 a 60 damage, that stretches so far you left and right almost go off your wide screen monitor . It just makes you go giggity giggity. ( not that I would....out loud......er ....)

Barrage is neat when it does that, but the further you go in the game the less effective barrage seems to be. Ironically, it was the Raptors in EOTN you mentioned above that made me drop Barrage and never look back. Especially the way you describe it, it sounds like you are burning up half your power just setting up your opening attack, then after you hit Barrage a few times, nothing has died and worse the enemy is on top of you, and you have little or no power left to defend yourself with.

Barrage is a good Elite, but from my experience, and from reading what other people like to use, Barrage may not even be in the "top 5" of Ranger Elites. You could use Burning Arrow instead for better single target damage, or Crip-shot would slow the Raptors down, and is also unblockable.

I might have dropped barrage also but with the Norn "I am the strongest" which has no duration, Splinter from a hero and the 60% crit from "Go for the Eyes", it is costing me only 3 energy a shot to do huge damage ( Expertise ) . I have tried pretty much every combo listed on the forums and like this the best for dungeon crawls.

Thanks for all the tips about blocking mobs , I will not expect barrage to hit on these and will focus on getting the banner down for protection and let the casters nuke them down.
