Signet of Capture as loot
keefe
I know it goes against the mechanics of the game, but as it is something that has a fixed value and purpose i think it would a cool drop to get from a boss, I think it should have the same drop rate as elite tomes.
just an idea that made me lol a lil bit.

So, like a Tome of Capture Signet?
I like it.
I like it.

might be a fun little thing, but as rare as an ELITE TOME?! they are incredibly rare in their own, and signets of capture would be like 30+k. g'bye skill cap titles.
quickmonty
It's a skill, and skills don't drop.
Sir Owns Alot EP
The price for one would never go above 1k, since thats the max amount to pay for a skill.
gameshoes3003
I'd rather get an elite skill tome than this.
keefe
Idea is not to replace tomes or sig caps, just to have something additional drop to the stuff we've been receiving for ages. It wouldn't make cap titles too easy as their drop rate would be pretty low but it would make them more accessable to poorer players.
quickmonty
Something additional dropping would be nice but an item, not a SKILL.

Signet of captures from skill trainers never cost more than 1k so I don't think that people will be buying Signet of capture tomes from other players for 30k! Also it is completely pointless as you can already equip 3 cap sigs at one time when in an outpost and you are VERY unlickely that there will be more than 4 bosses with skills you would like to capture in one run so I think that having 4 signet of captures at the one time in your skilbar (one or even more from the tome/s and 3 from the skill trainer). I'd be amazed if you get that short sentance because I even don't.
The moral of the story was that signet tomes are completely pointless.
(I had to look back through what I had written about at the start to remember what I was finishing about because I am so bored and usualy keep going on and on aimlessly to anything, anywhere, anytime so this is the end of my post...or something similar)

That said, I see no reason to add a new drop into the game. If Anet decided to add this functionality, all they would need to do is allow you to learn Signet of Capture from a normal tome for your profession (if you can't already - I've never even checked).
quickmonty
A cap sig goes into your skill bar = a SKILL
A tome does NOT go into your skill bar but into your back pack, belt pouch or bag. NOT a skill.
Big difference.

or a better idea for a tome, make an elite tome so you can get an elite from ANY profession(assuming you have the req chapter).

I was meaning for it to be a drop you would add to your inventory to be used in town, not a skill u use while in an instance.
I also see no reason not to add a new drop into the game.

Non-attribute tomes would solve this. Just make them non-profession based with SoC available.
MithranArkanere
Skills dropped a long time ago, as skill gems... but those no longer exist.
The only change I would make for Signet of capture is making them fail until the characters make the Signet of Capture quest of their campaign.

It is creative. It won't ruin the economy and be worth 30k (lol) when you can buy them at skill trainers already for 1k. It isn't a neccesity, but there are no real reasons against the idea (except for Mithran's good point about only allowing people who have unlocked SoCs to use it).

I like the idea with the caveat that you must have already completed the Cap Sig quest in your appropriate campaign, of course does it really matter anymore with lvl 1 chars routinely having elite skills......
MithranArkanere
The extra thing of the quest requirement is increased value for tomes.
Kanyatta
Point #1: It won't raise the price of cap sigs, they'll still be 1k at trader, it will just offer an alternate way to get them.
Point #2: Skills do drop as loot, they're tomes, you don't have to immediately activate the cap sig tome. You can sell it, or use it, just like a normal tome.
Basically, there's no reason not to implement this.
