A funny thing happened to me while I was busy taking a little break from Guild Wars...I was still playing the same character!!! I realized that I have been playing the same character since before I even heard of Guild Wars...Even back in the day of PnP role-playing, I always played a ranger of some sort.
From Morrowind, Oblivion, Perfect World, Shaiya...always the same: an archer/ranger, typically female. Sometimes I find I even try to manifest this character in other games, favoring bows when I can. Even in Bioshock, I HAD to use the crossbow as my favored weapon. I loved Theif I - III. I even did it in (don't tell anyone) Maple Story. When I first started Guild Wars, my first character...Ranger/Monk.
So, I'm sure there are a few of us out there who have dabbled with something else from time to time, but always return to the same style of play. How many of you seem to ALWAYS gravitate back to the same character type? Warrior, caster and whatnot...And...Is it because you like the way those characters look, their role or do you really want to be Legolas, Sir Gallahad, Merlin, Robin Hood, The Gray Mouser, LeeeeeeeeeRoy Jeeeeeeenkiiiins!!! Thor, Roscoe P. Coaltrain, and the like? How many have even gone so far as to use the same name?
<Keepin' busy. You?>
Playing the Same Character Anywere Else?

I guess I'm one who's either versatile or gets boring of stuff easily. One thing remains; I'm an offensive-type of player. I want to deal damage. Support and backliners are somewhat boring to me as I NEED ACTION!
So I play whatever as long as I'm in the frontline or an offensive midliner. Necro in GW and D2, rest have been anything that does either good damage or is close-combat.

My warrior, Konrad Althalon, is borne from an old General of mine from a game called NationStates, which I Moderate. My Male Monk (who I never use anymore), Khaled Sudani, is a subordinate of Althalon's in the same universe. Same with Sen Dabernasi (Dervish), Ezr Sergoyan (Paragon), and Narotama Suharto (Ritualist). Last time I wrote anything for NS, I brought my GW main (the one for which this account is named--Nadia Roark) over into that universe to return the favor, in a wierd sort of way.
As I envision them, few if any of these characters bear any similarities to their NationStates bretheren with the possible exception of Roark, although she doesn't take her likeness from my GW character. Instead I borrowed the image of Riza Hawkeye from Full Metal Alchemist to depict her in NationStates. For some reason the idea of using a GW screenshot as her avatar there didn't sit right with me.

I always seem to gravitate to rangers, assassins, and other roguish characters. I usually end up making casters and melee people but I love starting out with finesse characters. I like the variety within their professions (typically).
I also name any assassin Kartok the Deadly, a homage to my assassin of the same name back when I played SB.

I usually play support characters, never primary healers or damage dealers.
Guild Wars - Monk, Ritualist, Mesmer, Paragon
Diablo 2 - Druid, Necro, Paladin
Ragnarok Online - Priest (advanced Monk), Alchemist (a half-warrior, half-mage using potions and a ,,pet'' to fight and support team), Sage (Mesmer/Elementalist), Bard (Paragon/Ranger).

To a large extent, yes. She doesn't have a set name that goes from game to game (some people do that) but in my mind it is the same character. Always some type of wizarding class (elementalist in GW's case) and I always have one character that represents me, no set class on it I just try and get one that looks like me (in this case on of the tyrian warrior models looks kinda like me, just need to make him a little fatter).
I also usually pick some type of theme for character names. In GW all the females are "Isis" and usually contain a color: "Isis the Red", "Isis the Blue", "Isis the Green", etc. The only exceptions are the above mentioned elementalist (that character always gets a name from one of the books I like to read) and the character that represents me either gets named Brian (my name) or strcpy (what I normally try for on forums).

All my characters in the past have usually been mages of some sort, sometimes battlemages(or anything that requires technique, never hack/slashers). My first DnD Character was a Gnome Illusionist.
I think I favour the more intelligent classes. Even though your average ele has the iq of a bar stool...
