Coming back to GW?

Alright, well I haven't played Guildwars since about EOTN came out. To me, titles and fancy armor that I have to grind for, really just don't appeal to me, as if I am going to grind I would at least want some sort of reward stat or power wise.

I capped most of the useful elites on my Warrior, Necro, and Ranger, and then I just really didn't know what to do. Sure there is pvp, that was fun but if that is all I'm going to do, I'd rather play an fps like TF2.

I guess it is just the blatant lack of content that made me quit.

So has anything new happened or do you guys have any suggestions on what to do to keep the game somewhat fresh?

I am not trying to say Guild Wars is bad, or anything of that nature. I was just stating what made me lose interest. (Just to clarify)

I couldn't tell if some of that was sarcasm or not.

It's a shame, I really enjoyed GW. But I guess ANET hates content adding updates.

I guess I fail to see how that would liven up playing GW.

Nah, nothing new has happened. Same as it has been since you left, really.

And go TF2 for competition >: ) or even better: Pick up le Orange Box.

Nah, I bought it bundled with garry's mod, I don't really care for SP games, although I do love coop campaigns which is why portal and HL2 series didn't cause me to want to spend more money.

Games change and so do people.

Sometimes you interest diverge, sometimes converge.

I'm lucky and every single change was one I wished or suggested. Insignia, PVE skills, Heroes, end-mision chests...

It's like with a couple. When the charm is broken, you can either accept it or find another couple.

Updates!

As long as there are updates I will never leave the game! If I put gw.exe /image and the download bar appears, that thrilling!
I go to the wiki and check what's new.
And when I find that they fixed some worn translations I reported... yay! That's superb!
And when they added something I suggested or supported... that's wondrous!
And when they add something absolutely new I never thought of... that's the best!

Once updates stop, the game would be dead for me.

Meh I wish that would add some new areas and keep expanding the game so there would be something new to do. ^^. Once you have beat the games and grinded out the titles you want. Done all the farms there are. Nothing exciting left. I don't know, maybe bring out another high end area. That would get people excited for a month or so. Then it would just be ursanway through it again.

However I still play. Not for the game but for the people. Nothing like getting on logging on a guild's vent(that I am not really in) and saying hey u Bast**** wana ha? Then we go own ha and hold for a few hours(like last night). GO FINE!!!

I stopped playing for about a year and restarted about 2 weeks ago. I did find some new skills that I had to have, so I bought the eye of the north expansion. And after reading the build wiki, I had to try some of the new builds after so many updates since I left. So, if you enjoyed playing GW before because you liked playing around to see if you could find the Perfect build for some of your favorite missions, then it's definitely worth coming back. If you liked GW because of the style of play, then nothing has changed. Even with the new expansion, it's still the same old guild wars.

Games get old, that stops some people from enjoying them but not others.

While I still enjoy playing GW I find that my time spent is greatly decreased from what it was 2 years ago. I rarely stay online for more than 1hour at a time now and that limits some of what I can do.

If you left after EOTN because you were bored, don't bother coming back, because nothing has changed radically. Worse, it's not going to, since EOTN was the last major content update, from what Anet have said.

Well, Guild Wars isn't really meant to "keep you interested." It's no different than any other single-player game, only that this one can only be played on-line. You're supposed to play it and have whatever fun you'd like with it until you're bored. Guild Wars isn't made or tailored to addict you.

I guess from the GWGURU posters, GW sucks.

I guess people playing GW should stop playing GW for a while, and do more posting in GWGURU.

My take.

Believe him, just the credits is worth the price of the entire game. Imagine the rest.

It's an award-winning game too.

Once I get my Mesmer to beat EotN and my Necromancer to get all three Protector titles, Legendary Skill Hunter and also beat EotN is when I can say I've done plenty to be ready for GW2... that is, after about a month goes by and I find out what people think of it.

Never hurts to get Sunspear/Lightbringer titles on my characters, so that's a possibility.

I never had a problem with the amount of content.
The biggest problem and that source of all my GW-related frustrations is the simple fact that I ADORE PvE.
And some things just don't function in PvE. And the shitty part is that those are the things that appeal to me the most.
It's like giving some kid a taste of candy - and the kid didn't even know he loved it before tasting it - and then putting everything in a room made out of bullet-proof glass so that the kid can only see the candy but never reach it.

Gimmie my candy, you bastards!

I have to agree with this statement above as well. With no character advancement and very little content compared to other mmorpgs and items and equipment remaining the same over n over n over again one is just playing repetitive bs over n over and calling it fun. I don't see the fun of beating an incompetent AI over n over n over day in and day out myself. It's the same ole mobs in the same ole place and you beat them in the same ole way day after day. Hopefully GW2 will do away with that simpleton type of play and build a game of advancement and evolving and randomness that GW right now doesn't have.

just play pvp. Pvp is the best thing about the game.

You are right, the PvP is the best thing in GW, except the best thing in GW =/= good.

I think im too addicted to considering stopping playing...

...what gets me is that the majority of people never bother doing quests - you run through the primarys and then wonder why theres nothing left to do! The quests give you gold, experience and a bit of a laugh at times, so theres something you could do.

Another thing everyone seems to be big on is collecting things for their homs, im not going for a full one, just the things in gw i like- armor designs and minis that i think are cute etc.

Then theres always getting into an active guild, doing content with players is much different from adventuring h/h and you might find you get back into the game that way.

Either that or try a character class you've not had before and adventure with them, they make the game experience completely different!

Sorry, tangible things? In game items are never worth grinding through boredom for, not in WoW, not in GW, not in EVE or Ragnarok or any other MMO. When the game is inevitably shutdown, you'll realise you spent thousands of hours grinding for nothing. Play it for fun, or not at all.

Don't get me wrong, if you find grinding for stuff fun, feel free to do so. If/when that's not fun for you anymore, move on to something else. Try PvP or another game or get another hobby totally.

If by great you mean "overpower" then yeah. Totally.

You have to grind for their associated titles, though.
