Guild Wars 2 is still sooo far...
Nor
Ive been watching people from my guild , friends and from the game with alot of hype about guild wars 2 and because of the closed beta going this year, well... i just gotta say that for this games developers do really take ALOT of time and in wikipedia it says that it will be "supposly" open at the end of 2009 or begining of 2010 , so they really know that its an easy 2 years period from now on , and we always know that they take more time than that .
So anyway im like in this moments i like a waste of time getting all excited about it so early instead of enjoying more of the game , or getting the things you could need for gw2 (like titles ><).
Oh and remember the Guild Wars 1 Beta?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IGm5gXZTOs
it was waaaay different from the actuall release so im thinking that this gw2 beta will be the same , lots of thing to work on...
there arent any images bout the game just concept art :X (i think) , so imo lets give them a little more time before we start worrying so much

I don't think the GW2 Beta will be anything like the GW1 Beta. Anet have a platform to work from now. Where as the GW1 Beta it was a completely new game.
The game will sell itself. Even if the Beta is a little crap.

When is Guild Wars 2 going to be released?
No date has been announced but current rumour is it'll be sometime late 2009 - early 2010.
i know its a rumor but i always think it might be longer than that.

A good game takes a good experience DEV team to develop it and it is not just about how long it will take to make a good game it is about how good they are to make a good game.

price - time and qualitty.
you can only progress in two of them , 1 it will degrade.
so with guild wars 2 , if you want good quality and fair prices it will require lots of time :X.
anyway just saying enjoy what you have now...

The flip side is that games that are rushed typically end up being crappy - even with a good development team and platform. Therefore I think Nor is correct when he says good games take time to develop.
An example of a rushed game being crappy - Command and Conquer The First Decade. While it was just a repackaging of games so they could be played on a 32bit OS, it was rushed and was riddled with bugs.

Early 2010? You mean, 2 more years of, "What am I gonna do with all my lost hours in GW1? What do you want to see in GW2?" Sounds like a long 2 years.

Hopefully they'll make the beta they are planning on releasing this year open to enough people that it gives everyone a taste of the game, and not just those who jump through hoops.

GW2 will be out when it's out and will be what it will be. I'll worry about it then, meantime I have my gw to play and a life to live. Not losing any sleep

Hm... we definitely need something to fill the gap until GW2...
Hm... unfinished business, the remaining realms of the gods... things like that.

Just as a side note, wiki's are editted by you and me, so any information in them is subject to error. ANet has not given us any timeframes other than betas will start later this year, so beyond that, all dates are speculation.

Half the fun of being a fan is speculating and crap.
Theres not much left in GW1 to talk about, unless they release the Xunlai Marketplace.
Maybe a GW2 forum section should be made, so we'll be out of your way with our speculations and ideas.
Then when media content is released, we'll have a place to talk about it.

hope this game doesnt have fail pvp.

when they say late 2009 early 2010 - they actually mean the late part of early 2010.

I dont mind the official GW2 takes a bit of time.
But it would be nice if a beta would come within a year, submit the beta for rigorous testing.

The GW2 beta is closed?
Can someone provide a link? To be frank, I would really like hard evidence that it is going to be a closed beta.

For me it's a race between SC2 and GW2 to see who grasps my money first.

As to the Gw2 beta: I hope it's open, because I hate closed betas, they further the creation of a highly rich ultra-elite class of players in MMOs.

During a presentation entitled "Best Creative Talent," EA touched on a number of titles that were considered the pinnacle of design, putting amazing creative talent to work on building inspiring worlds and impressive games. Along with the announcement of new titles from EA, a slide showing some titles (both old and new) was showcased during the conference. While some games, BioWare's "New MMO" included, are obviously referencing games to come, EA has contacted us further and commented that not every game mentioned is upcoming. So where does BioWare stand in all of this? We know there's a new MMO on the way, and that both EA and LucasArts have acknowledged this publicly, but there's no definite answer on whether or not we'll see KOTOR's return in the future. In contacting LucasArts about its works with BioWare, and the possibility of a future KOTOR product, the company stated that, "Yes, we are working with BioWare. We've announced that we're working with the developer on a project, but it has nothing to do with Knights of the Old Republic." We'll have more news on BioWare's MMO, and future LucasArts projects, as news develops. |

I really believe that we will not be seeing anymore extra content for Guild Wars 1 because it would take time away from Guild Wars 2. Yeah it would be cool to have something extra but the sooner Guild Wars 2 gets here the better.
As far as beta it's pretty much what Lonesamurai has been saying. Guild Wars 2 beta is the 2nd half of 2008 which is anywhere from July-December. I just wish they would give us something to nibble on, most people are excited about GW2. We wanna see the goods !

Starcraft 2 is projected to be released late this year or early next year, about in time for the GW2 beta. They're not going to be competing.
I was pretty sure Fallout 3 was further along too, what with a fair amount known about it already, and having been in progress for a year or two.
Diablo 3 is an unknown quantity; if Blizzard is even working on it I suspect it'd be out somewhat later than GW2. Then again, they do tend to announce their games later in the development cycle. If both came out around the same time it'd be an interesting battle; I'd almost certainly buy both anyway, but that's just me.

I don't count on SC2 coming out before 2010 really.

Bleh Starwars crap... lame.
Nothing will substitute for GW2.
You are forgetting to take into account they have been working on GW 2 since the release of NightFall.
27 October 2006.............
That is 2 years project time already..
Just because something is not announced to the public, does not mean it is not already under development.
Clearly they knew Nightfall was the last Campaign, GWEN is nothing more then a side-project featuring various tech elements
already completed for GW 2 , just take a look at "A GATE TO FAR" and it's plainly obvious elements of the next engine are in there.

Yes, because if they had sticked to Utopia, added two new professions and a few titles the average review scores would have dropped below 70% and the general perception of GW would be on of staleness. Good thing they switched to GW2.
