Guild Wars 2 is still sooo far...

Ive been watching people from my guild , friends and from the game with alot of hype about guild wars 2 and because of the closed beta going this year, well... i just gotta say that for this games developers do really take ALOT of time and in wikipedia it says that it will be "supposly" open at the end of 2009 or begining of 2010 , so they really know that its an easy 2 years period from now on , and we always know that they take more time than that .

So anyway im like in this moments i like a waste of time getting all excited about it so early instead of enjoying more of the game , or getting the things you could need for gw2 (like titles ><).

it was waaaay different from the actuall release so im thinking that this gw2 beta will be the same , lots of thing to work on...

there arent any images bout the game just concept art :X (i think) , so imo lets give them a little more time before we start worrying so much

I don't think the GW2 Beta will be anything like the GW1 Beta. Anet have a platform to work from now. Where as the GW1 Beta it was a completely new game.


The game will sell itself. Even if the Beta is a little crap.

When is Guild Wars 2 going to be released?

No date has been announced but current rumour is it'll be sometime late 2009 - early 2010.

i know its a rumor but i always think it might be longer than that.

It does take quite a long time to develop a game. Personally, I'm glad they are taking that long. I won't complain if the release isn't until 2010, or even later. I'd much prefer a game that was complete and polished than a substandard game that doesn't live up as a sequel to the game I enjoyed so much.

Not really, good games just need a steady platform to work off of. Good games take a long time to develop when they are NEW, on a new engine etc etc, With technology that hasn't been figured out yet. Otherwise sequels and expansions don't have to take very long if the hard works done already, and they just need to put a new coat of paint. Basically why Anet was able to pump out Factions, Nightfall and GW:EN so quickly.

A good game takes a good experience DEV team to develop it and it is not just about how long it will take to make a good game it is about how good they are to make a good game.

there are 3 things that you gotta have in mind when you work on something.

price - time and qualitty.

you can only progress in two of them , 1 it will degrade.

so with guild wars 2 , if you want good quality and fair prices it will require lots of time :X.

anyway just saying enjoy what you have now...

The flip side is that games that are rushed typically end up being crappy - even with a good development team and platform. Therefore I think Nor is correct when he says good games take time to develop.

An example of a rushed game being crappy - Command and Conquer The First Decade. While it was just a repackaging of games so they could be played on a 32bit OS, it was rushed and was riddled with bugs.

Early 2010? You mean, 2 more years of, "What am I gonna do with all my lost hours in GW1? What do you want to see in GW2?" Sounds like a long 2 years.

Hopefully they'll make the beta they are planning on releasing this year open to enough people that it gives everyone a taste of the game, and not just those who jump through hoops.

GW2 will be out when it's out and will be what it will be. I'll worry about it then, meantime I have my gw to play and a life to live. Not losing any sleep

Just as a side note, wiki's are editted by you and me, so any information in them is subject to error. ANet has not given us any timeframes other than betas will start later this year, so beyond that, all dates are speculation.

Exactly. All i see is GW2 threads when people haven't woke up to realise it's 2 years away.

Half the fun of being a fan is speculating and crap.

Theres not much left in GW1 to talk about, unless they release the Xunlai Marketplace.


Maybe a GW2 forum section should be made, so we'll be out of your way with our speculations and ideas.

Then when media content is released, we'll have a place to talk about it.

when they say late 2009 early 2010 - they actually mean the late part of early 2010.

I dont mind the official GW2 takes a bit of time.

But it would be nice if a beta would come within a year, submit the beta for rigorous testing.
