Where'd The Rares go?
Drop of Fear

Seriously, guys, seriously. |
I had R4 treasure hunter and only R1 Wisdom. That was mainly down to me running Port Sledge chests, which has a fairly poor gold drop ratio. I wasn't after wisdom so didn't really matter.
Anyways...to get Wisdom chest running/buying off bots is your only option. My old guildie had R7 Wisdom, he bought a lot of them, and ran chests for the rest.

Rare: thinly distributed over an area; few and widely separated.

Overfarmed areas do not drop many rare items. Go chest running or farming in places where few people farm or run. As an example when Catherdral of Flames (Temple of the Damned) first open my smite account got 14 rare drops and my 600 got 7 rares in one run, this was before Thanksgiving last year. Compare that to last night, using 2 comupter and 2 accounts got a grand total of 7 rare drops. As more people farm the area the fewer the drops. Time you run also seems to affect gold drops, I get more gold drops in the morning then during prime play times.

The bots are gone, only rares i see for sale in LA or Kamadan are 800 - 1000g ea. and not much availble.
post in Buying section of this forum, has yeilded no responses.
CoF almost got nerfed (reversal of dmg) . Gok got smacked with a lessor mystic regen, Anet is hindering farming and culling drops. This is my last post in this thread.

here's another math problem for you 90minX6raresX10,000 = 150,000min = 2500 hours. Ok doesnt sound so bad, as long as i dont go to work, sleep or waste time interacting with the world. I can get that done in 100 days. Have you farmed trolls lately? How many rares you think you ll get? I am not going to re say what I said above. Go read it. |
Look, if it isn't fun and you don't enjoy it, don't do it. It is as simple as that. Titles are only worth what you put into them and the feeling you get at accomplishing them.

mm. I got r4 Treasure and r4 Wisdom.. Because of running only hm chets I get fairly enough good drops (like 80% money back) its enough cause i did it just for titles..
Arutima
talking like a lot of people have too much money to spend into buying lockpicks for chest running ..

Chinese gold farmers.
If they don't take them, they have to sell their kidneys to give food for their families.

Hmmm.
When I do a HM mission or Vanquish, there is usually a good handful of golds that drop for each player. Some people seem to get more than others but, HM is the place to be.

Sweet Mystery
Went chest running last few days and had like 24 of 27 drops as purples from the chests.... lockpicks seem to break in normal mode too all the time even tho have 60% retention rate... one day every lock pick broke so was a pain.
Seem there is a lot of randomly against randomness of late...

Using lockpicks in NM is not worthwhile.

I just got a gold in normal mode yesterday with heroes in Echovald. My first one in there with that character.
I don't hink there's something wrong with them.

I usually get a gold or two every day (and dye, think the dye fairy likes me too). I have one character that has been iding them all---and since late fall has gotten from 500 to almost 800....so they still seem to be dropping (and I dont usually do hm either--or chests, cant afford keys).

The OP has identified 2500 rares, and wonder why there are not more of them???

how about zaishen chests?
KamikazeChicken
I tend to get more rares in NM than HM, but they don't usually end up being max stats. :|

Whatever you get in your instance DOESN'T AFFECT OTHER PEOPLE'S DROPS outside your instance.

Now if I could just beat this addiction to z-keys and lock picks things would be better, until then happy farming (Unless you would rather grind titles, not for me).

Believe whatever you want. If you think it works for you, fine. I believe I get more loots when I bring Razah with me too. So there.
EDIT: Thanks to Guru's robust searching system and big archive, here's the link to my post refering to Gaile's post from gwo. Gaile also posted some more responses on these threads too. See for yourself.

Too bad the post over at GWO is gone. But Gaile's posts on the first thread should be enough.

im in ur game, steelin ur rarez.

I ate them all. That means I digested them, which means I also don't have them. We all lose! MUHAHAHHA.... wait... crap..

A title is not meant to be gained in a day or even a month and some even YEARS. The game requires longevity achievements to keep players playing. The carrot in front of the horse goes along with these titles. I'm happy/lucky if I get 1 rare per run of a hard mode zone. But, sometimes I get FOUR in a run. I personally think buying unids defeats the purpose of the title grind. How much will you spend before you ever seen gain out of the max title advantage? vs How much will you lose over time? I don't see a loss over time just adventuring for them because you gain gold everytime you go play. Eventually when you're old and gray you'll have that max title and then can start to gain all the added bonuses it will give you when you salvage something. <grin>
I just can't get over these people that think titles should come easy and be done an over with in a day or a week. Remember titles aren't necessary they are a nicety and therefore are setup differently from the usual humdrum of the game adventure and exploring that can be finished in a day or a week. The really good players can finish any chapter in a couple of days or week maximum. Thus, titles are there if they want something else to achieve and are willing to put the time into it.

Spending many hours on playing a character all the way through GW:EN (no dungeons but including all sidequests that give PvE skills): 3 rares.
Farming vaettirs for 30 minutes: 9 rares.
One thing that's bothering me about this, is that it's really discouraging me from PLAYING the FRIGGING GAME if I want to get anywhere on my wisdom title, other than cleaning out a select few mobs over and over again.
I understand some titles need some effort, but a reward difference of factor 20 between two styles of playing is just too steep.

That's the problem of grinding in GW in general.
I don't know why. But to me it seems like Anet thinks that grinding in GW is kinda optional, so the devs don't even bother making them FUN. If you want to grind in GW, be prepared for a long tedious moment that will not even be rewarding in the end.
Other games (where the grind is kinda the main gameplay) tend to make sure that YOU HAVE FUN while grinding, and that extends to every single kind of grind (optional or otherwise). I wish Anet had done the same thing too...
