The Order Of Pointed Sticks [OOPS]

R/

You've seen all the ads. You've been browsing through here for a while, thinking to yourself, "My, these all look strikingly similar."

Well, prepare yourself for something very different.

We are the Order of Pointed Sticks [OOPS], and we are opening up recruiting again! We are committed to chaos, ice cream, and having a wonderful time together. We have members from the far reaches of Canadia, to the tea-laden isle of England, to the rolling hills of Poland. We speak several languages (well, some of us more than others). Our ages encompass high school students to grandparents, and we are brought together by our love of Guild Wars, but more importantly by our love of spending time together. I shall continue in some ultra-spiffy bullet points, with eye-catching formatting!

OOPS Members are:Respectful and (mostly) mature - if you can't be considerate of others, there is no place for you in OOPS. When you get to know people really well, this isn't too difficult, because they become a person you care about, instead of just a name on a screen. And maturity is important too, although there is always room for silliness. Willing to make the best out of any situation - even when you fail that mission the 3rd time in a row, what matters is having fun together, and still being able to encourage and help each other rather than becoming annoyed and spiteful. Not "beneath" anything - missions, quests, killing that crazy water buffalo in pre, we do it all, and we love to help each other out for the easy stuff as well as the difficult Sometimes quite silly - in a social guild, a sense of humour goes a long way. We sometimes tend toward the random end of the humour spectrum.
OOPS is NOT:HM/DoA/Mission-so-leet-and-difficult-we-can't-even-tell-you-its-name - Yeah, we do some of these kind of things (our illustrious DoA domination is coming to pass!) but really, it's not our focus. We do difficult areas to challenge ourselves, but not on a regimented basis, and not with guaranteed success. The chance of failure is what makes our successes so much more great! And along the way, we've all had fun and learned something. Whether you don't even know what an elite mission is, or if you're a hardened veteran, as long as you want to have fun, we'll bring you along. Imposing silly and unnecessary demands upon how you spend your free time - We won't make you faction farm, or log in x times /week. We won't require your presence at events. We love for members to hang out together, but in the end its everyone's choice of how they want to play. It's just a game, after all. Everyone has a life, GW shouldn't get in the way of that. Drama central - We are very relaxed. On the very rare occasion that there is a dispute between members, officers will be available to mediate and help resolve any issues. Under the control of the lemur army - We think..... @_@
So far so good, eh? Did you like the bullet points? Well, let's switch it up and do a little Q&A now, where you ask us some questions, and we'll answer (except that really, it'll be me pretending to be you asking the questions, and then me answering again, making me you...or you me? Something like that...)

Q: Why is OOPS recruiting again?
Well, you, as a gamer, know that you play your games in cycles. You might really love a game this year, but next year there might be another game that captures your fancy more. Or, you might become very busy with Very Important Real Life Things, and not have enough time to play as much. It happens, we know it happens, and we firmly believe that real life is more important than GW. However, we also accept members on a lifetime membership basis. You become part of our family, and we'll be here whenever you log back in to visit us. The point of this is that it's starting to get a bit quieter than we're used to around the OOPS hall, and we're looking for some new faces to brighten it up.

Q: I have a desperate need to know your guild's essential stats.
You do? Well, we're Kurzick, we have about 45 members, about 10 of whom log in every day or so these days, and about another 10 who log in weekly, across varying timezones (EST being the most popular). Those of us who like to talk rather than type use our shiny ventrilo server. We dabble in PvPish things only for their potential to amuse us. We are in a rather large and bustling alliance of guilds who share our fondness for hilarity, and use Teamspeak when talking with them so as to be able to talk and play GW and knit at the same- ...I mean....was I knitting just now? *goes back to monking* Our youngest member is 14, and our oldest has a grandchild who is 14. The great turbulence of the cake vs pie debate still echoes through our almost fully equipped Imperial Hall. We have a wiki, it was a gift from our alliance: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild...Pointed_Sticks

Q: How long will you continue recruiting?
Until we stop, of course. We don't want to become gigantic, mind you. Knowing each other well is part of our guild charm, and that's hard in a mammoth guild. So, we'll see how it goes and if we stop accepting applicants we'll edit this post to say so.

Q: Come on, I've read through this whole post, will you tell me how to apply already?
You're still reading? *blinks* Well, excellent, because I'm still typing, though probably not for too much longer because I don't want to fatigue you unnecessarily with this overly-long post. Go to our website
www.oopsguild.com and click on the 'Join Us' tab and fill out the questionnaire. If it looks like you might fit in well, we'll set up some times to quest with you, so we can get to know each other better, and if you still haven't been scared away, the last step is a little interview. I know, it's long and convoluted, but we don't like to waste our time with guild-hoppers and would rather just accept the people we know want to make their home with us.

Thanks for reading all of this. If OOPS doesn't sound like the right guild for you, I wish you the best of luck in finding a guild home that fits you best. For those that are interested, I look forward to chatting with you.
