Elder Jonah is supposed to give the quest. The question is when?

I'm trying to cap barrage from Commander Kubeh during The Great Escape quest, but E.J. won't give me the sig quest.

but that sez it's preceeded by the Great Escape, yet if you look on wiki for where to cap barage in Nightfall, it tells you to cap it during the Great Escape, as your next chance to do so is much later in the game.

yes that is right....you will not be able to use the free sig cap for that---however, you can BUY sig caps from most of the skills guys (there is one in yolon haven I believe), and just get the free one later (and cap something else with it).

If you have GW:En, you can buy it from Eye of the North. If you have Faction, you can buy in in Kaineng Center. If you have Prophecy, you can buy it but you need to do some mission to get to the town where it is sold.

The great escape quest happens when you loose Koss after the Consulate docks mission. If you have done that mission and Koss is back in your Hero list then you have completed that quest and will have to find another player that still needs thatquest inorder to cap the skill.

You can also repeat areas and cap later. If you desperately want a free cap sig, just wait till you get it, then go back and cap.

You can buy a cap in Yohlon Haven, I think.

Yohlon is right as suggested.

The boss with Barrage *only* spawns if you are doing that quest and the quest is non-repeatable. If you miss it there then you wait until the end of the game or unlock with faction and use an elite tome.

As such, you can't just skip it and cap it later from that area.

Just buy one from Yohlon Haven, you will have use for that free cap sig later on anyway - there are quite a few nice elites.

Well, technically you could.
Either stand in the Sunspear Sanctuary offering to help with 'The Great Escape', or help a guildy with it. The boss'll spawn, you can kill him.

If we really want to be that pedantic, then no *you* can not. You can only accompany someone else who is doing that mission.

I wouldn't particularly give the advice to skip and come back later - I would highly suspect that the OP will not be exactly happy with that answer once they try and go back. I would say it is especially true seeing the general lack of people asking to form groups for that quest anymore.

Of course, YMMV - maybe I'm just on at the wrong times and tons of people are still LFG for it and it is common to do that for capping Barrage. However, if your mileage is similar to mine that isn't, well, good advice. The OP is free to choose which they follow and will eventually rate different peoples ability to give useful advice based on that and if what I said proves to be incorrect, then oh well - it wouldn't be the first time I suppose.
