which motherboard to go with

well i have been lookin around some computer sites mainly the ones in the Canadian area but i dont know which brand to go with they all sound very very good but i just dont know what to choose so i asked my computer teacher and a couple of his friends they all said that ASUS is excellent and not very pricey too but i just dont know are they right

Yes, they're right, but there are other good brands too. MSI, Gigabyte, Intel, DFI, Sapphire & Aopen come to mind.
As in most things low-end price=low-end quality/performance.

intel seems good reason is that everytime he asked if i picked one out he always throws in Dont forget to get a intel dual core duo....maybe as for my first motherboard i'll go with ASUS first...then well see lol...plus i just wanted some advice if it was a bad brand or something like that

I'd go for Gigabyte and MSI ( have MSI myself atm ). Great service, great performance.

oh man am so torn which one to pick now...the fear i have with getting a new motherboard is getting a outdated one if that ever happens well i'll just look around and slowly pick one

A motherboard is just a collection of features such as a processor socket, various upgrade slots, and a RAM type. Get one that has the features you need and that are the current industry standard and it won't be out of date. At least not for a while. Take a look at what the current top-of-the-line computer hardware is using, and use that as a guide.

Well i have been looking around and I have found 3 Motherboards that sound interesting, am basically lookin for one to run Guild Wars (Learn to love it), WoW (hate it but my buds keep cryin for me to get it) and saving videos and editing..

Knightwalker, that third like you have is a very nice board. Wink... Wink... ASUS is my favorite too! I mainly like their hardware monitoring and management software. They are easy to overclock, too. As Quaker said earlier, there are some other alternatives out there, too. ASUS has long been a fan of mine, though.
