Yeah man pugs can lose your survivor title fast. If you want to pm me in game and I'll start a new toon and I'll help you out with survivor and some other stuff. I've thought about doing the same thing you're doing but decided that I could care less about titles and I've also grown kind of attached to a couple of my nearly 3 year old toons. I do however like to make new toons every once and awhile for kicks.

Personally I have done this with one of my characters it was my mesmer. I flew thru the three campaigns on my original one as a fast cast searing flamer, and it made me feel guilty. So I deleted and started new collected all weapons and materials and gold to buy what I needed along the way without going to storage once. (If you are bored this makes you appreciate what wealth you have amassed along the way) I also used only Mesmer skills this time. I have completed all campaigns so far and have now switched this character from PVE to my favorite PVP RA toon. I use her all the time in RA carnage.

This has also been my experience. When the game stops being new it's very tempting to hustle new characters as quickly as possible through storylines, and I do believe in skipping things you really don't enjoy - for example, never again will I do the jade sea/forest charting quests, and I usually skip the jungle and go straight to the desert. However if I do absolutely the bare bones with a character, once I reach the goal I had in mind I find it really hard to care about the character anymore. Pretty much all of my "rocket" characters ended up getting deleted.

Now I try to make sure each character is appealing on its own merits, and I start each one off very slowly, making sure nothing whatsoever bothers me about their looks. One might be rerolled a dozen times before getting off Noob Island, and once she makes it off I make a point of doing all the quests, both to make some easy money and to invest some quality time in the character. Finally, I make sure each one looks good and has a nice thing. That nice thing could be a fancy armor piece, a dye job, a minipet, a customized weapon, or just about anything that can count as a unique investment in the character.

My new strategy seems to be working well. I have 8 characters "up and running" right now, with none of the dissatisfaction that I know from experience leads to pixel-murder. And there are another two on the way.

When I make a character I rush them through Legendary Survivor. I then do a few missions on them. H/H and PUG. If by that point I'm not having fun, I delete. If they make it through a campaign and I suddenly don't have fun anymore, I set them aside unless I need their character slot, in which case I do the Elona chest run for a bit of cash off of them, and then delete.

Heh, there seems to be a lot of (almost) negativity in this thread. I did this once, about 6 months in (there were a couple of subsequent rerolls) but my only real regrets where the characters that got the axe to make way for the pvp before we had the option of buying more slots.

I've heard of others doing exactly this - and as a consequence they actually found new enjoyment in the game. Mini-pets aren't everything, and who knows, this time he might even get a bone dragon for his 1st b'day.

I don't understand why people would just throw away the accomplishments of one character for the sake of starting over. Get a new slot, and don't waste all the effort.

I know this sounds harsh but you should get better the more you play the game and yet in 29 months you have only beat proph, and have no titles what so ever, I know people (casual players) who have only had the game for a few weeks and have a few titles and 1 to 2 are max.
I used to be a hardcore. But for the past 3 years, i've been maintaining 2 jobs and I still have to play my game.

I've beaten prophecies using many different characters. I was not able to beat Faction not because i can't but because i didn't like it (although i earned a lot from it using the earliest green weapon that drop earlier part of the game. In the first few days Faction was released, you can sell it for 5k and you can have 1 drop for 2-3 runs. but after a week, it only became a freebie.) If they have maintained some of the game mechanics, like you should be able to enter town without requirement of finishing quest, i think it should have been more playable. Nightfall is similar to Prophecies except for some few areas.

29 months in the game is just normal. I've MU Online (global and local) for more than 3 years and I was not able to make it to maximum level

In other consoles, I played FF Series for more than 3 years and RE series for also the same length of time.

The game is more fun now coz it became easier due to the Heroes. Imagine, how many times in the past i tried to do bonus in one of the forest missions using the henchmen (the one with 3 portals), i really couldn't do it. I always get beaten in that bonus but few days ago, I did that again using NF character and I was laughing because I was able to finish the mission with bonus without even fighting (i was holding another orb) and I just let the H/H to do the fighting.

Also, I was listening to players complaining about the desert missions while I was having fun doing it with H/H

This is the reason why I decided to make a new start because I realized that I can do all 3 chapters (plus GW:EN) using only one Nightfall character. I love to have titles but I think being 38 and having 2 jobs is too much But i'm still hoping i can make an LDoA hahaha.

you're right. i didn't expect this to be this long. but i realized that some people are attached to their toons.

"Sentimental Value" that's what we call it.

Please close the thread and thank you for expressing your thoughts about my concern. I already deleted them and there is no UNDELETE function in the game so let's more forward.

Sounds like an epic waste of time. Sorry, restarting won't bring those nooby feelings back- After a while you'll stop and wonder, Wtf am I doing this for?

- Exactly.

I sometimes have blind moments when I'm getting enthusiastic about Guild Wars. I start to plan my characters and how they will be so good after grinding ten levels of PvE titles. Then five minutes after I actually start playing I remember how utterly pointless it is to run around clicking OK to text messages without even bothering to read them, killing same pointless monsters and selling loot - for what? On my lucid moments I remember that instead of wasting my life I could be actually having fun. Or doing something productive like cleaning up the apartment and feeling good about myself. This game has totally stopped giving me any kind of satisfaction.

Imo, you can tell how good a game is going by how fun it is to replay it. A game which eventually turns people down this road has reached a very strange plateu. Nevertheless, don't delete them, there really is no point to it.

And that'd be different because life isn't as predictable/static as, say, quests/missions in Guild Wars.

Grind grind grind.

My point is, you might get to do things differently if you can start over with your life.

But, what could you do differently in GW if you start over that you can't do NOW?

I can only think of survivor and legendary defender of ascalon. And you can't get both (normally). Not to mention to get LDOA, you've gotta play through PROPHECIES (oh god).

Pointless attempt at pointless goal.

Or maybe I miss something, and this is another way you "brag" about yourself and your toons and your item collections (as you said you like to do), telling people how you don't really care about them and can delete them at will (while most of us really can't)?

Well trust me, it's not because we value our chars; it's because we see no points in it.

the only 2 things that sets restarting and starting apart is that 1) you've already unlocked the skills and 2) you have knowledge

since you seem to have both of those, go for it.

OR

You can limit yourself to one of your 3, think it was W R Mo.

Do you know what that boat icon does? It lets you travel between continents because apparently 1 character of yours beats only 1 game

Interesting.

How come it is pointless to delete characters who have only beaten 1 chapter so that I can make a character whose goal is to beat 3 (plus gwen) chapters?

Can someone please tell me why it is pointless?

I have not beaten prophecies in two years. I've beaten it after few months with several characters and continued to play (farm for gold to buy good items). I've beaten prophecies several times before Faction came out. When it came out, i tried it the very first day (actually i bought faction on the 3rd day after it was released from plaync). I tried it....didn't like it...so I went back to Prophecies. Nightfall came, i bought it...didn't play yet because i was busy with my job. I continued playing prophecies. when i heard about ldoa, i thought i want to try it so i bought another prophecies with gwen and created a new account (all my purchases except for the first Prophecies were bought from plaync.com). recently, when I got bored with pre-searing, i thought i wanted to take a look at my Nightfall....lol i just played in the tutorial section and level up my character up to 6 (i even posted about it here and someone said it was pointless to raise my level during the tutorial because it will be faster if i will go directly to the game.)

So, i played the game and made it up to Gate of Pain in few days (3 or 4) and i came to a point that i couldn't beat it anymore. So, I said i'll try a warrior because i am good at it. LOL in just 2 days, i got a level 1 survivor without even knowing it Then, i revisited Prophecy (i love prophecy tbh) and LOL it was really easy missions that required PUG in the past can be done by H/H now

So, I said why not play this game again with fresh start. Actually its not a fresh start because I have an instant several Perfect Gold weapons (which i acquired for playing for more than 2 years) and gold to buy good armor with mods (my warrior got +50hp which i never used in any of my character in prophecies).

The point is, i found the game more exciting now than when I started plaing it 29 months ago.

Also, i found a nice build for Warrior in the Warrior section and when I found out the Koss couldn't get the build because one skill was missing, I decided to buy the core skill unlock so now all skills are available to my heroes already.

Of course I am not criticizing anyone for calling this action pointless. Probably it is pointless to most of you, but having a 3-4 hours fun is not pointless to me

LOL has anyone of your tried to Ascend without 2nd profession? LOL i killed my twin in less than 10seconds i think

I did it yesterday, and I'm actually glad I did it. Fresh new warrior from prophecies and it's a challenge to catch up to my hardmode friends.

Good luck to you if you do it.
