What Shield Should I Use if I am Using Fiery Dragon Sword

Hi. I haven't seen any Shield (im using the one from Kaining Center NPC). I'm just wondering what shield should I use that will match the skin of a Fiery Dragon Sword?

I'm not planning to put many points in Tactics, so I am thinking of a shield that is Strength based.

Any suggestion?

A shield with
-20% Cripple
-20% Blind
+10 Fire
+10 Light
+10 Slashing
+10 Piercing
+10 Blunt
Maybe +10 Cold

+30 Health
If you can, get both Tactic Shields and Strength shields, but Tactics is usually saved for gimmicks or bad skills.

There really isn't shield to match the skin of a fiery dragon sword, given that most of it is simply a fire particle effect. Still, the default handle color is a sort of gold color. Nightfall has a lotus shield, which is a fairly common skin, but has a nice golden color that matches the hilt of the dragon sword pretty well.

A shiny metallic shield would go best, in the same colour as your Dragon Sword if possible - Darkwing Defenders are pretty snazzy and Strength-req.

And on str. vs tac shields - Strength all the way.
Ever since the advent of "Save Yourselves!" replacing "Watch Yourself!" on all my bars, any compelling reason to spec Tactics has all but gone. There is Healsig, but whenever I deign to take it, it sits on my bar totally unused because the AI covered by "SY!" can easily keep me healed.

A lot of you have said that Magmas Shield is good for FDS. So, i guess ill get that one even if dye wont change the skin.

Thanks. My armor is from Consulate Docks.

I think im going to dye it (the armor) with Red-combined-with-yellow dye. I still don't know what color will come out of it.

I don't think I'll be able to get armor that will match with FDS. I'm only planning to get one from Consulate Docks, put a 50hp and Vitae on it and it will be my armor for the rest of my character's life already. The reason why I asked for a matching shield for FDS is because the shield i am currently using is a circular grey (one from Kaineng Center) and they aren't really nice to look at. even the shield from Bonus Weapon doesn't look great for an FDS.

Personally I like the look of the Emblazoned Defender with FDS.

Though I used to like this combo way back when....

Magmas, destroyer, anything flamey actually. I use Magmas on my warrior, sometimes grabbing out my FDS, just because it looks good .

go with something tactics based. strength is a useless attribute line.

sell the sword and get a different one that goes better with the 90+ other shields that are in the game

seriously though, its pretty much whatever you think will look best with your overall character, taking into account armor, male or female, shield positioning, etc.

I recommend a Dragon Shield or Fiery Dragon Shield.

Not really for PvE.

For PvP, myeh. That's a bit more long winded... In the end, I rarely opt to take a self-heal there, for a lot of reasons.

edit: for PvE, in all honesty - the only Tactics skill worth looking at right now is "Shields Up!" in a few niche situations. I'd probably try and slot healsig if I pug, but... I don't pug.

im not going to argue with you about healsig. i wouldnt run a melee character that dosnt make things blow up (meaning a non-AoL derv) without some form of self heal or defense. you would. whatever. tactics still has more skills that can actually be used than strength. they are both pretty bad though...

Back on topic...
Magmas would go well With a FDS however it is expensive as previously stated.
Destroyer might look Okay too.

I havnt used Healsig for ages, with decent heroes in NM PvE you shouldnt need a self-heal anyway.. For PvP thats a different matter.

Its a matter of opinion imo.. If you wanna take a skill which you probably wont use but keep it on anyway just 'in case' you need to use it, then fine. But why have a 'partially' wasted skill when you could use something thats going to make an impact.

Str > Tac.

Darkwing Defender, Emblazoned defender, Gloom Shield <-- All dyed black, maybe even an eternal shield (that was what my old war used in ascalon lol).
