Ok, so, this early morning was doing a CoF/Temple run. The runner was very fast, good, and nice. There were no problems the whole run.
Then, we got to the end, right before murakai, and one person went the corner of the place acted afk. Everyone paid except this person, and we all kept saying we'd keep their name, make sure they'd never get another run, etc...
We tried pulling some of the minions to the persons character, with one reser safe away so that he could res us after we got the person killed. Normally even if this did work, the "afk" person would have ressed anyways, but i was more than willing to leave my computer on all night to make sure this person didn't get jack squat from the end chest.
Well, the minions didn't pull far enough, seems as though this person knew exactly where to stand so that aggro wouldnt extend far enough to him. This indicated to me he's done this before.
I have screenies of the chatlog, and of him yelling "NOOBS, YOU CANT REPORT ME" after mysteriously coming back from being afk once murakai was killed. The screenies show him getting the end chest reward.
In short, ive heard anet cant/wont actually ban ppl who scam runners, but is this always the case? I mean I have evidence, and im sure an evalutation of the person would show other cases against him...
Does anet ban people who scam runners?

If you had a MM with you, then you could let the MM sac himslef to death standing next to the scammer. Just let the Minions do the rest. If you have any Heroes with resurection capabilities along, then disable the res skills, and flag them far away. That way, even if you all map out, the heros stay behind and wont res him.
As for reporting. I think your best bet would be to try support (oldschool reporting
). Maybe they will do somethign about that player after reviewing the logs.

As far as reporting, if i try that, do i just send in the raw screenshots of the chat logs? Instead of pasting them all in/on one file? Do I censore any of the names? I'd hate to see the guy who cussed out the leecher get slapped with a temp ban...
This sounds like a plea for having to never pay on a run ever again. =|
More than likely, all you'll get from not paying is a spot on the ignore list of the runner, and no more runs from them. There was one time when I paid a guy, but gave him a hard time, and I couldn't get any more runs from anyone for a few minutes.

It's intresting to note that ArenaNet's stance is not to support runners and allow them to be scammed and/or nerf runs.
Yet if ArenaNet was to instate a system that prevented runs completely you can bet your ass they'd lose a sizeable portion of their player base. Whatever happened to "the consumer is always right", that is to say, if you want to maintain popularity as a seller, you sell what people want, not say "We don't support the selling of choclate bars in this supermarket"

If someone flat out refuses to pay do a /resign, boot him, and go again simple as that. |
Running isn't supported by Anet and running for money is always a risk of not getting paid, so things like these should be expected and when it happens the runner should stop crying about his virtual numbers loss. Best advice to runners who QQ about the scammers > make money in a different way, you'll cry less i'm sure.
I totally understand where you are coming from. It's the injustice of it that gets to you because everyone else honored their agreement with the runner and the scammer didn't. It just shows you what kind of person this is; one without honor. I personally could not scam someone (even in game) because my character screams, "That would not be the honorable thing to do." Honor is a concept lost to many people even in GW. I'm not saying it's lost to all because I've met many honorable people in-game. I would try support, but even if nothing happens, know that you have acted honorably while this scammer has not. You're a better person for it. I hate to sound cliche', but I believe the saying is true: "What goes around, comes around." End lecture.

Terrible issue of trust. On one hand, the runner could ask for the money upfront, but then the runner could take the money and run. On the other hand, he risks taking a loss if his customers don't pay. I won't say that taking hits like this should be planned for, but they should certainly be expected. I'd still like to see the best in people. After all, I think I've just had one or two people not pay me for my services as a Beacons/Droks runner (and I've been doing that for about a year now). Still a few bad apples out there, for sure, but don't let that one guy discourage you ^_^
