VoIP in GW2
Xavier Eledhwen
I just had a thought, and please forgive me if someone else has already made this suggestion, but it would be cool if GW2 had VoIP or integrated with something like Team Speak, so that when some one was talking the player bars would light up with who was talking. It is hard somethings to keep track of who is who with everyone have several different toons.

Yeah, this has been talked about before. I don't know how it would affect their bandwidth, or the system requirements to play the game (you can probably forget about playing GW on dialup if this is implemented), but as long as I can turn it off so I don't have to listen to people, I'm all for it.

Um nty... with the current rate of the lag I wouldn't want to make it worse then it is. If it was somehow to launch it in the gw2.exe file and exit it it would be great! And only to talk to real party members. I think I read somewhere while back that ANet is considering adding something like vent

The way i see it if you want to talk to other players the best bet is to use vent or the like. By doing this you ensure that people with less resources are not subjected to more lag and also you will not have to listen to random people saying random things.
When playing other games such as CSS or TF2 I often have to resort to muting an annoying player, it is just a hassle I can do without.

better idea: just get a vent server and tell your party the info for it so they can join if they want to

That would rule.
But only if you had the option of easily muting people from the party list by like, simply clicking a button. Or disabling it completely if you didn't want to talk at the moment.

Also I guess I didn't make myself clear, I do that a lot sorry. I meant to integrated it with TS or Vent or some other VoIP, you would still need to have to configure an option in GW2 to access your VoIP server. That would mean you wouldn't eat up the GW2 servers bandwidth, just your own. Also this would be a completely optional setup and would run on the Client side.
Sorry about the repeat post...

thats a good idea, i have wanted that for a while

This is pointless, if you want to talk in guild wars then get the other person's phone number, and talk like that. It would definately delete dial up guild wars players and others with low connectivity.

You can't see me
There are other programs to do this. While they may be the slightest bit inconveniant, I really don't want to sacrifice game speed so that some guy doesn't have to change windows to vocally speak with guildmates when the text chat option is readily available.

As long as it can be disabled. I don't want to listen to people talking and I don't want my connection to the game slowed down.
