Gwen's Profession

I've played as Gwen in BMP and it explained how she became what she is in GW:EN.

But back in the early days of Prophecies (pre-searing), we use Gwen to heal us with 20HP when we are in critical health. When words came out that she will appear in the future release (now GW:EN), i thought she'll be a Monk.

I don't use Gwen as a Hero, but I may have use her if she is a monk.

How about you? Have you ever thought of Gwen as a monk?

No. She's far too violent. Plus she references the mesmer's outfits in dialogue.

Mesmer/monk, fast casting healing

I have always seen her as a mesmer, I wasn't even aware that she healed you in pre before reading it somewhere on the forums.

We have plently of hero monks to choose from anyway and I hardly ever take a mesmer along, so it makes no real difference to me.

That's the reference. Gwen was born to be a mesmer. The perfect mix of borderline sanity and perversion towards hurting charr.

In GW:EN I set her up as a Masmer/Ele helps for energy mgt.

Seriously.. she should have been an ele. Come on, how many towns does she have to firebomb? Mesmer, sheesh.

gwen annihilated everybody in post searing ascalon city at the end of beta with fire magic.....

She may well be the only GW character that has 3 professions Me/Mo/E!

I think they should have made her a bit more special, like Razah.

ANet probably made her a mesmer to add moar love to PvE mesmers.

Probably the opposite. Now that we've got a low-fat unmoustached mesmer hero, why would we need a mesmer player?

Definately. Gwen is an enigma. I think she got more fame than she really deserved considering how small a part she played in Pre-Searing. However, the community blew her up into nearly mythical status; it's a shame she couldn't have been a more useful proffession so she was an integral part in any team.

Granted, the only reason I don't consider her a more useful is becuase of my freely admitted ignorance of Memsers.

Razah is special, how?

Harder to obtain? Used to have a mysterious "variable" profession (which at the end of the day doesn't really mean anything and you could interprete that as "unknown" and still get the same result you have now)? Can't transfer disease to you and your team?

I don't see Razah as special, obviously.

It didn't strike me when she said that But i think i remember that she said that.

But (too many buts ) she heals me occasionally with 20HP.

Sometimes she heals, sometimes she burns :P

While she did heal 20 HP, she did it by playing her flute.

That's closer to the Mesmer than the Monk.

I noticed that she mentioned about her mother being herbalist. Maybe, just like most youngsters are, she was still confused what profession she wanted to take and she became a mesmer against her will.

Nah, usually your parents make you become a monk because they want you to make lots of money, but she decided to do what she really wanted - to become a psychologist... I mean a mesmer :P

truthfully, monks get better business that mesmers.

they farm better and are wanted more in teams.

It really is a shame she doesn't use PB. It's like she refuses to use even if her life depends upon it. Don't know what happened to mesmer hero AI, but I do remember them using PB as intended.

I was soooo happy when Gwen turned out to be a mesmer. I use her all the time . She hardly ever gets put away. I think having Gwen as a mesmer was much better then having her as a monk. I mean, come on, how many monks do we need anyway? Having her as an ele would have been ok. There are no female eles but I'm still most happy with her being a mesmer.

Gwen is indeed born to be a mesmer, i use her as a interupter, not al the time but is use her quite often.

There would have been one Mesmer hero in EN regardless. Although I think that Gwen would have been a perfect Mesmer anyway.

She's an angry young lady with a somewhat broken mind after seeing her home and family destroyed, and then going through hell during her imprisonment and escape. Who better to cast spells that cause insanity than someone whose sanity is questionable?

I always have gwen with me, she was the first hero i fully outfitted. Great interupter, i even changed proffesions to unlock more skills for her.

Now im thinking of making a mesmer myself....
