So I ran the contig file for Gw.dat, but it had the same number of frags before and after (6517frags/file).
Is this because I need more memory? Should I uninstall some stuff?
Also, while I was doing the full defrag, a lot of the attempts came up with the message STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER.

You could always try Defraggler: http://defraggler.com. It might help.

My guess is that your drive is too full to move stuff around. Only way to fix it is to clear a LOT of space, then try again. If you've got another drive, move sttuff, defrag, move it back. Otherwise, you will have to delete stuff. gw.dat isn't a bad candidate for deletion, since you can redownload it after you've defragged, it will just take awhile.
