Template Organization

I have a neat little suggestion (atleast to mean) that helps you with organization. When you save templates, you should be able to place the builds in folders for organization. Like if you save a Monk build, you should be placed into the monk folder, then be placed on the secondary profession of the monk. This would make it easy to find builds and organize that messy template list. You could also organize it based on PvP and PvE builds. Just a suggestion.

This update, like many, is long overdue. Template Organization would make things so much easier, and faster when grouping. /Signed.

You have to edit the folders yourself.

Just because it can be done now by fiddling with the program, that doesn't mean A.net can't impliment it themselves (in fact, just the opposite, its clearly such an easy fix that a.net could do it in a matter of seconds). Convience for everybody is always good. Keep in mind only like .5% of the GW population reads up on forums. This would benefit everybody.

My guess is that this is a very tedious programming assignment if they were to implement something like this, since it took them weeks to put out a "simple" code like checking for NPC count on both teams and updating ViO in GvG right now. This is probably a result of sloppy coding in the original making of the game, and now they suffer from the inability to easily add new things into the game.

This would be on the lowest of priorities, mainly because they're focusing their efforts on GW2 as well as bugs, useful updates, etc. This is an update that'll make it a little more convenient to sort stuff, but why would they do it if you can already do it yourself.

Open to where your templates folder are...
eg. C:/games/Guildwars/Templates/Skills

once you're there, just create new folders, and name them like Mesmer, Elementalist, Warrior for example, and put the skill templates into them respectively....

You can.
Create new folders in the Skills section in GW on your harddrive.

Firestone explained it best.

But I think it's possible ingame, I've done it before, but I don't know how...

You can create folders ingame by adding a \ to the names.

If the name of the template is Name\Example, it will be saved as

L:\xxxxx\GUILD WARS\Templates\Skills\Name\Example.txt

If this was put in game, it would take, essentially, the same amount of time to do it on your desktop as in-game.

Didn't realise you could actually do this yourself, and I personally don't have that many saved templates. But why should the developers waste their time when you can already do this yourself? Minimise the program and create a few folders, it would literly take about four seconds, compared to god only know how many lines of coding and testing.

Yet you can't open them up in game and see what's in them... :]
