Could PvE Characters Be Just As Good As PvP Characters?
Kagome
I just leveled my paragon to level 20 and maxxed out her armor. I have no more slots left since I share the account with my sister, but I want to PvP with my friends and guild members. Could I make my PvE paragon just as good as any PvP paragon? I bought 4 Runes of Superior Spear Mastery and found myself a Green Spear. But I am only limited to spear mastery now unlike my friends who could change their attributes. I do have the money for more max armor, though... Should I make different sets of armor for different builds? And could PvE characters be as good as PvP ones?
And what runes should I put on my armor? Runes of Superior Vigor? Insignias?

Any PvE character can become as good as any PvP character. for PvE characters, you have to buy the skills. for PvP you have to earn blathazar faction to unlock them. now I'm not a paragon, but you could look on pvxwiki for some builds.
From the way you worded yourself, i assume you don't know how to use runes properly.
When you apply a rune onto your armour, thats non stackable, only 1 rune of that type will work (4 runes of sup spear mastery will only give you +3 spear mastery, and any combination of sup major and minor will only give you the highest amount on 1 rune).
a general use of runes for PvE is:
1 superior rune (generaly for you weapon, placed on the helmet which should give +1 to your weapon)
1 superior vigor (i place this on my chest)
1 rune that is your primary skill (leadership for paragons i think, which i place on my glvoes)
and 2 runes of attunment (for warriors a sup absortion should replace 1 of these)
Haven done PvP much, but instead of any runes that give you -health, replace them with minor versions of the rune.
insignias can stack tho. and im not much of a paragon or PvP guy, but im pretty sure full radiant insignias would be best, as it is for PvE. Survivors are also widely used in PvP that i can remember.

you can make it just as good, pvp file just makes thing easier as you can easily change your armor runes weapon mod and such without the hassle of destroying your armor and buying it (of course only if you have unlock the items) for pvp most people prefer minor runes.

To be able to change freely between the attributes. Here is what you need
1 head piece for each attribute.
1 minor rune for each attribute into the corosponding headpiece. Sup runes are extremly TERRIBLE in PvP(this is excluding the superior vigor rune. The best vigor rune you can afford the better). It is all about HEALTH
You will also need seperate armor peices so that when you switch to a different headpiece you don't have 2 of the same minor rune on any armor piece.(this excludes runes of vitae and attunement because they stack. Meaning you can have a vitae rune on the arms and leggings and will get health from both runes.)
Edit: By the way. Paragons have extremly good energy management in PvP. As any decent bar will be stacked full of shouts and chants giving you energy back. Survivor insignias or Centuriun insignias are what you will run as a pvp paragon.
Edit: Insignias such as Centuriun that give +armor while affected by a shout/chant/echo don't stack. They simply only affect the armor piece they are on.
Edit: I suggest buying a char slot from the online store so you can have a PvP slot.

Well, right now I have a +1 spear mastery headpiece and sunspear armor. I also have the spear mastery build (first one in basics thread). What should I put in each? I'm new so please tell me the specific runes because I am sure I'll make a mistake. XD

minor spearmastery on headpiece if you are focussing on a spearmastery build. The 75 hp loss for a superior is simply not worth it in any kind of competetive pvp.
minor leadership
superior vigor
rune of vitae
rune of clarity/second rune of vitae ~ I like clarity ~ blind is a nightmare for paragons
Either full survivors or full centurion insignia ~ if you are using [skill]aggressive refrain[/skill] I would definately take full centurions personally.
I would also seriously consider a sheild with 20% blind reduction +30 health at least as a swap in your inventory.

Edit: Started this when theres was one post, lol. Stupid AB starting in the middle of me typing =\.
Yes they can, if you go into obs you'll see that many of the top PvPers do use decked out PvEs.
Its a long/expensive process to make them pvp worthy though.
IMO get a max AL armor you like, and make multiples of the headgear, as well as footgear and arm peices. Put the attribute runes on these so you can swap them when necessary. Then sup vigor and an anti daze/blind rune on the chest and leg pieces (blind for a para). It might also be a good idea to get an extra piece with a cripple reduction.
Edit: Aim for a motivation headpiece with a minor moti, a spear minor + leadership minored arm/footpiece first, as paras are usually motivation SoRbots.
Generally all pieces have survivor insignias on them, the only exceptions I know of being a shock axe warrior and a hammer war.
You need the shields as well, but the few really big ones you want to get first are +10 armor vs Slashing, Piercing (for VoD in GvG), Fire, and a 20% reduction from blind/daze. Ideally you want all the +10 AL vs elements, -20% blind/daze and a -20% cripple, but at the least aim for slashing and piercing first. All shields should be of fortitude and as close to perfect as you can get.
Good luck making the para :x.

once upon a time you could change your armor while in pvp.
During this time a pve char would be better than a pvp char because the "J" screen did not exist.
Now.....ya they can be just about as even, but a PvP character is easier to change on the fly.

Sure, PvE characters can be just as good as PvP. However, be prepared to spend a lot of cash on them. My monk is probably outfitted with at least a few million gold worth of armor/weapons, and my ranger spent 300-500k between something like 8 different bows, 3 different hammers, shields, armor, runes (sup vigor), etc. For the other classes I use PvP characters simply because it's expensive to optimize your PvE equipment for different builds as well as buying all the skills required.
Parson Brown
Used to be they could be better. But yes, they can be just as good, it just takes a lot longer.
MasterSasori
Umm yes? PvE characters should have all the abilities that PvP chars have, but it will just take a while to get the skills and the armor/runes.
Hope you're rich or going to get rich.
