Why do people think, the Hero title isn't that great anymore?

I only started playing PVP regularyrecently, and was thinking, 'Why not do Hero's Acent?' But it seems that the Hero title doesn't have the prestige that it used to have. Why?

Because there was a time when titles did not exist. I noticed that immediately after titles came into existence people started caring about particular rank brackets as entry into a group A LOT more. Not that this had not existed already.

Also the lack of regular skill balance and mechanic changes lent to HA becoming a stagnant area. Those who favored skill over balance see people run builds that have an objective of "farm 3 maps. rinse repeat" and go "WTF is this shit. Why can't ANet get some serious skill balance in here so we can play against unique, interesting builds, instead of having to play against the same "insert flavor of the month". Most of these guys realise that these builds have no real chance at winning Halls, so why do they play them?!?!?!"

Basically there are those who play HA for fun, and really don't care about their fame count, and then the others, who in my opinion are a majority, play solely for fame.

Well i always want to win the halls, just for the experience (of course fame included)

However to win the halls you need to get into the good groups and to get into the good groups you need high rank. To get high ranks, people have turned to farming because thats all thay can do to get the desired rank.

Thats my opinion, based on what i see lately.

yeah it's become a useless title because now it doesn't show true skill. Before you had more balanced builds winning halls, with some of the best players. Now you have people running random shit like hexway and iway. Stuff that just takes button mashing to win.

Tbh i think elitism should be deleted and make everyone who rly wants able to try it it would make easyer learn to Pvp now if you hasnt got rank its almost impossible get HA team unless if you got mates/guildies. But yeah hero ranks +10 still Are great but bambi is atm pretty bad cause its easy get you can get runs for Ha 1-2k/fame thats like 300-400 for r3 if you got cash you can get easyest ranks without any talent

As a PvE player of which there are many it's a title that means nothing just as any other PvP title. But I have played some PvP to see what it was like and I just see a lot of abuse, gimmick builds and such so why would it mean anything? From my point of view since favour no longer is determined by HA for a specific continent I don't see HA as anything of any interest at all. Why in the world would I wanna deal with the usual PvP crap to win HA? I don't even know why I would want to do HA begin with cause winning it has no point to me. You might occasionally get a cool drop but you can get cool drops elsewhere.
Since HA has no impact on the game basically, winning it means nothing either.

Just my opinion.

all those people running around with bambi makes it seem common imo, and there general attitude. but once i get the best out of pve i'd like to go for ha too for a bit, for the exp.

Any title can be farmed. The only thing a title says about a person is that s/he spent some time doing activity x and has some experience in that area. Skill != Rank

Pretty much the only thing that killed the title was time. In the game's early stages only the most dedicated had the ranks at first. So in that respect it could be considered prestigous to display a rank that so few had. There was also no obs mode back then, so the winning hoh message was a big thing, and seeing someone from one of the dominant tombs guilds and a high rank was enough for a little respect anyway. Time sort of watered that down, and now with the crappy hoh objectives, no favor, and general HA inactivity, I don't think anyone really cares about who's winning or who's even playing now. Everyone and their kid brother has a tiger now, so in that respect the title tells you almost nothing about a player, except that this person has at least dedicated himself to pvp a little.

IWAY, Ritspike, and all the other skill-free scrubways that made it easy for people who lack the skill and don't really deserve wins, to win and get fame.

What do you mean anymore?

I didn't realize anyone ever thought any title was great, or meant anything.

It seems like lately these builds are about the only way to get into HA. For players new to HA, the choice is usually either to use a skill-free build, or to completely avoid HA.

If that has cheapened the Hero title, then wouldn't the alternative be to close off HA to newcomers entirely?

A: They're jealous.
B: They feel threatened for some reason.

At least that's my take on it.

I don't understand how anyone could be impressed by a title, even if a PvP title.
Sure it may show experience as someone else stated but skill requires no in game title, for if someone is truly skillful a title will be developed for them by the general populous.

PvP Title: +50 epeen
-10 friends
+25 general popularity
-30 life
Inscription: "I'm better than you!" Gives a +5 epeen bonus for each use of /rank (stacks up to 20 times).

I don't think all PvPers are elitist jerks... Just a lot of them.
