Guild Wars 2 linking to Guild Wars

However, no where on the site does it specifically explain how the 2 accounts will be linked. They havent specified whether or not the linking will take place threw your current plaync master account, a new plaync master account dedicated to just gw2, or threw some random in game linkage. e.g. traveling to a specific location and typing in information from your previous account to link it to your current account.

What worries me however is IF YOU do elect to link it threw your current plaync master account will the ORIGINAL prophecy cd-key affect your access to the plaync master account. I.E. if within the next 2 years or so you happen to forget your Plaync master account password.... will they require you to provide both the gw2 cd-key and gw cd-key or just one or the other?

Secondly.... is there an exact date of when beta testing occur? And how many contestants will be allowed to enter?

Uhh...no one realy knows anything right now about when and how anything will be done. There are some thoughts but I don't think more than half of them are actualy going to happen.
Most people know as much as you do.

i would assume they would ask for ur GW1 email and password to link the account to gw2. or they will just use the NCsoft account. either way i dont think it would be too hard. And just to be safe keep any and every CD key you get.

Yeah... unless you provide info about your GW1 acct, how can ANet know to whom they are going to reserve the names/items for, as far as your GW2 acct goes...

Just a shot in the dary here but I would assume it would work something similar to when you add a new chapter key at the login for GW.

ie. in GW2 you login and add your GW account name + password to tie them together perhaps.

Yea i reckon there will be an option to log your gw1 account on the main GW2 login, the first time yu install and use the cd key.

No one knows. If you're that worried, then write down your login info somewhere safe and don't lose it.

And no, no date has been released about the beta(other then late 08) nor on how many people its limited to.

Im honestly looking for a reply from galie....or some other representative for guild wars. Therefore, if you have no information please dont post. Stating the evident does not mitigate the issue at hand.

If you want Gaile, then try her wiki talk page, not here as GW reps are not always on, nor do they respond often. If you don't want the rest of us peons responding, you might as well ask a mod to close this thread as thats all you're going to get.

Your interpretation of literature clearly fails, i would love if someone with an accurate and or educated guess would respond to this thread. However your comment stating that "no one knows" was delusive, im open to suggestion just not something as elementary as "write down your login info and keep it somewhere safe." Per contra, i do appreciate the galie wiki talk post.

You may not want to post in an "open forum" if you only want what you want to hear. This is primarily a forum for players of GW1. If we had the info you are looking for, then chances are you'd have your answer already.

From a simple logic standpoint, you'd have to link your GW1 account to your GW2 account to be able to reap the benefits of the HoM. Since your GW1 account, at least, is identified by your email, then that info at least would have to be included somewhere.

I am not confusing any one by saying no one knows. Even if Gaile came on right now, her response is also likely to be that she does not know. GW2 will not be out for another 2 years at least. The means by which your accounts will be linked are simply not in place, let alone coded or completely thought out.

And yes, writing down your login info somewhere safe might be a simple solution, but then I'm not the one worrying about forgetting a pw just 2 years down the road.

Alright i guess i was correct in stating that literature isnt your fortay, delusive pertains to an inappropriate fact...or an INCORRECT statement. You were delusive in saying that NO ONE knows, because that is IN FACT your opinion. Furthermore I CLEARLY STATED..... that loosing the cd-key would be a problem NOT my pw lol. I strongly urge you to consider reviewing your posts before they are displayed to the public.

GW2 is still 1/2 years away, so noone, except the devs know anything about how it will be linked, and they are not yet giving that information.
