Prophecy only Sword Builds too situational?

I am currently running axe and like it for the most part. I would like to use swords, but I hate how gimped I feel when an elemental or undead shows up that i cant bleed. I have proph and gwen, but i havent even finished prophecies yet. Is it stupid to not run a sword build because of this? Without factions is it best i stick to axes? Thanks in advance guys.

You can use swords in other areas or against other foes. You can run with more than sever artery and gash. There really isn't enough foes who resist bleeding that you'd have to totally reject swords for the game. It really is a matter of preference when it comes to swords vs axes.

In all honesty for pve a warrior doesn't need many skills besides an IAS.

You can run Swords if you like - with GW:EN, if you really need that deepwound you can hit "Finish Him!".

Just know that the only sword elite available to you - Hundred Blades - sucks really, really hard, and you're better off with a utility elite like "Charge!" or... umm... yeah. Proph-only sword guys are kinda stuck for anything worthwhile to run elite-wise. Skull Crack for the lulz?

So is it safe to assume until i get factions, i should stick with axes? gonna try and grab cleave tonight.

Yeah... you know what, just forget about having an elite. It's only pve.

Gogo. I was almost going to suggest that but figured it sounded to silly to be a useful idea.

Considering the only sword elite in Proph is Hundred Blades, which tbh isn't worth it's elite status (Anet agreed orignially, but it was too powerful with IW so it was changed), then you're basically screwed. I'd swap to an axe, or hammer if you want to try that (all the nice elites (Devastating Hammer, Earth Shaker, etc) are in Proph). You've got Eviscerate for the axe, so you've got good elites there aswell.

You can also grab Virulence and add them to sever/gash

Wow, looking at the skills, I cant see how I ever managed with my war back in the proph-only days
