what kind of gamer plays GW?
llsektorll
from the hardcore gvg side.... I notice most players come from FPS or some form of tactical action game...
as for me...
I'm an avid online/offline FPS player.
I like offline RTS.
I do like some offline RPGs but only really liked FF9.
I like action games like old school platformers and new 3d platformers.
I like games with sexy chicks... go go tecmo ^_^

The Way Out
I have been an RPG gamer since the first Final Fantasy (NES). Moved onto FPS and gave up because of cheating (pixel bots). Played EQ2 for too long, and moved to GW and got stuck. Man is this game addictive. The login music is like crack to me... hahahaha!

Tactical FPS'/strategies - Gears of War, Heroes I-IV, Advance Wars I/II, Quake Wars: Enemy Territory
TPS games - Oblivion, Rune, Legacy of Kain games + Soul Reaver, Hitman I-III, Oni, Jade Empire, Beyond Good and Evil
Hack'n'Slashes - Diablo 2 + LoD, Diablo, Dungeon Siege
RPGs and MMORPGs - Neverwinter Nights I, II, Temple of Elemental Evil, Ragnarok Online, Lineage II.
But I mostly enjoy anything where a skill is more important than time. And where teamwork is important to win.

1 in the past I have been mostly a board gamer (yes those games you set up at your house and have a bunch of your friends come and play with you...playing civ for hours, diplomacy, titan, and mayfair train games--still play those), on the computer, I have played civ 1, 2 and 3 I believe, and alien crossfire (and its expansion)....otherwise none (hubby still plays rome).
2 not sure how any of the games I played would effect my character choices...Though back in the day of roleplaying games (again where you and your buddies play and role dice etc until you parents come home and shoo everyone out), I did play many mages, however, my first gw character was an ele---since then I have made and played all of the classes (with the exception of dervish and sin---have them, just cant get the hang of them yet).
make of it what you will.

Lets see here.....what kind of gamer/geek am I?
I have been doing Live Action Role Playing since I was 12 (I'm nearly 23 now)
I have been playing D&D since I was 14
I started playing the Nintendo when I was 3 and recently finally got my Wii and adore it, I play everything from racing games, first person shooters (though not many of those, I'm rather picky) to even the childish games like Animal Crossing and Pikmin. I got my first gameboy when I was 8 and My DS is on me at all times.
Now a days I play tons of tabletop including BESM, WoD, LOTR RPG, Shadowrun, RIFTS, Star Wars d20, and learning the Gurps, Wild Lands, and Eternity systems.
I am also a chainmaille artist and vend at a large majority of local gaming conventions.
I play various non online PC games such as Age of Empires, the Sims, and Roller Coaster Tycoon, and do 3d rendering with Vue Infinite.
I am still learning board games such as Risk and Settlers of Catan, but I love monopoly and redneck life, trivial pursuit and catchphrase and play many silly card games like Munchkin and Fluxx. Also play dominos a fair amount too.
Oh and I'd addicted to moronic free online game like Tribal Wars, Neopets, and too many webcomics to count.
However, I do not play any more MMORPGs, only because I firmly refuse to pay X amount each month to play a game I already paid 30-50 dollars for just for the stupid disc. I like to think that once I spend my hard earned money I should be entitled to play a game until I'm sick of it, and even then if a few months down the road want to try it again I should still be able to pick up the character I have worked so hard on in the past and contuine the storyline where I left off. Hence why I love guild wars. Yes, there have been times where I have been blinding mad about something but overall I have gotten MORE then my money worth out of the game and still love it 17 months later.
Oh and I'm a female....does that give me bonus geek cred? lol

I guess I've mostly played RPG games growing up like Legends of Zelda. I got into Ratchet & Clank when it was first released on PS. I started my MMO playing with Conquer Online and then came to GW because, well, it's way better lol. I'm a pretty casual gamer.
Nemo the Capitalist
anywhere from casual to hardocre players play GW

Eh, I like to play RTS and console games.
And I always end up playing some sort of either mage(elementalist) class, or ranger class(more for the elemental aspects, like in lineage where you play elf and pick fire, wind, earth, or water) GW is great cause I started as a e/r and played through pretty much all of prophecies with my faithful hearty melandru's stalker from pre

I used to (and still) play RTSes. Guild Wars was my first RPG.

The kind of gamer that other guys really look up to and respect. I'm well known on just about all the major gaming boards and people really, really love me. I'm the best at every game I play while still maintaining the respect and like of all individuals...in other words people don't hate me because I'm good, they love me in spite of my superior talent. I guess that's the type of gamer I am. |
who are you again?
I love you?
since when.
people always say they are the best, right before I axe them to the face.
back on topic.
If it is a PC game and free to play (no monthly fees) I own it.
