Thus fanfiction... or well, a BOOK, to give a more... "definite" reply.

Games that American companies try to make something other than a game fail. Every. Time. That is.
There are a lot of good anime series based on games and games based on series.
For example... Persona Trinity Soul or Ragnarok Online the Animation.
What were failures? Things like "Super Mario Bros. The Movie." or "Street Fighter. The Movie."
Aera Lure
Graphic novel. Maybe. I really dont see too much of a story in it.

Guild Wars would benefit from novels the same way a game like Halo has benefitted from novels.
They create a richer universe, with background stories, and filling in the gaps not covered by the game.
The actual novel/book/movie SHOULD NEVER BE the main story of the game. Thats just STUPID.

When his job slows down with that as we get closer to the release of GW2 he can work on a book that explains how Tyria went from the world that it was to the world that it will be in the 200 years difference in the games.

That being said, it be a great place to do novel's off of. Doesn't interfere with Gw1 lore and be "past history" with GW2 starting point.
Some highlights
Char win, take over ascalon lands, humans are scattered everywhere.
Dwarfs are no longer found anywhere.
Cantha isolates itself from the world and current emperor rules with an iron fist, does unit Lux/Kuz.
Joko re-conquers Elona make so bad the knowledge of sunspears is considered a myth.
Orr rises from the ocean, floods Krytia badly and start out with receding waters.
Dragons re-appear in the world, dragons that make glint power look week.
In the Wylds in Tryia, humans and centaur put asided difference, co exist and there action indirectly lead to the new race being born due to they way they respect nature.
Krytia becomes the culture melting pot for all cultures, races co-existing and if I were to guess, the part where we start in gw2.

hahahahahaahhaah!
You sir, r a winner
But i would very much preffer to have a novel, because you could keep on going writing stuff. Movies are too short for me (unless you are thinking like Star Wars or Lord of The rings)

I wouldn't mind a comic type thing done by the concept artists. That would be worth buying I think. But a movie...nah. Or, just sell GW lingerie like previously mentioned!!!(Just kidding, please don't)
Crom The Pale
Books for certain. And if they need a hand I am a writer

Graphic Novel
or maybe, just maybe....
Something like Final Fantasy the Spirits Within. Yes, I know, it wasn't the best movie ever done, but visually I thought it was great and is why it'd probably be the only way I'd ever imagine taking Guild Wars to film.

But beyond names the Resident Evil movie had nothing connecting it with the franchise.
* The game is slow, suspenseful and filled with riddles, while the movie is is action packed and the actors are more into blowing doors up and mashing "hack the computer" buttons frantically.
* The monsters in Resident Evil are often reason to run away, while in the move they are just stunt crew waiting to be slaughtered in many ways.
* The characters in the game have a history of working for Racoon P.D. while the actors in the movie meet for the first time.
* The game is about escaping the mansion while the movie is about slaughtering your way through something.
* The game is unapologetic about violence (but did cut smoking!), while the movie.... ...well.. did you ever count how many people you see entering the laser chamber and how they all die? Uuups, one is missing.
In terms of being a good action movie the Resident Evil Flick surely succeeds, drink a beer, have fun, don't use brain, sure. But in terms of giving an accurate reflection of the franchise and seeing the game in anything other than two or three names, the RE-movie is an utter failure.
The same would happen to a Guild Wars movie. They would take Rurik and have him save Althea from the grasps of Glint. Copy and paste any Hollywood fantasy script here. Because no filmmaker really cares about making video game movies. Their gain is reduced marketing costs by virally addressing a self-organized community. What marketing budget would a WoW movie need? ZERO DOLLARS. Because they would have the fans to do the marketing. So if the saved marketing costs exceed the costs of the license, we have a go.
Would you have watched or known about the Resident Evil movie if its name had been: Zombie Underground? Quickly rename Umbrella into Vortega Corporation, the T-Virus becomes the Mubutu virus and you have a go. Hell, you can even change all that in post production. The same fate awaits a potential GW movie.

Bungie have been really careful with who they give the liscence to, and what gets done with it. You have to hand it to them for that.

I'm up for books. Although Warcraft has gone downhill since WoW, before that I loved the books which explained the earlier story in a much greater detail than could be done with the earlier games.
I feel ANet should definitely do some books, probably on the Guild Wars, perhaps the days before The Exodus, and some books to link GW1 and GW2.
Plus if it's a movie we'll just all hate how it's so unloyal to the franchise.
