If it were purely for cosmetics, then ok. But ANet doesn't usually do things that don't have some sort of functionality to add to the game.

It's been a slippery slope towards WoW over the past year and a half. That's all I'm saying.

yeah -_-

Having a house is just a lil side track, a fun one though xD

Some people think they are pointless thats fine, but some think its awsome, nothing to do with seeing any line between fantasy and reality =\ just peoples prefrences. They should make something like that for gw2, that way it pleases those who want one and if you dont want, then simply dont buy xDD

Face it people, the RPG element of this game is severely lacking. It would not hurt anyone to have housing, even if its in an instanced area. In fact, it would probably attract a great deal more RPers to the game.

I would absolutely love to have a nice little cottage on the outskirts of Divinity's Reach where I can keep my characters and display their accomplishments, and possibly share a drink or two with friends as well. And the option to buy a HUGE mansion later if I so choose.

Other than that I don't care to much about the GVG ideas since I've never done that. Sounds like it would be an easy way to ruin PvP though.

I'm always up for adding more stuff to the guild hall, but nothing that should affect GvG battles. I would still like to see the guild storage type idea (I know, dead horse being beat again) as well as something to store extra armor sets (I know, another dead horse being beat more). If I were to get to have my own house, would I get to have additional storage in it? If the xunlai agent set something like that up for me I would like it. Or then again I could just have stackable inscriptions and mods.

Because no one wants the winning GvG team to be decided by who bought the most money from a Korean gold-selling site.

I don't see the problem as long as it doesn't effect GvG at all. If it plays any part in GvG, it's a terrible idea.

Meh, as long as it doesn't affect PvP, signed.
Just another gold-sink that I'm never gonna spend or work on at all.

I personally don't like the idea. It just isn't what guild wars is supposed to be about. In pvp, everyone is supposed to be on equal footing. If you allow people to buy more npc's for GvG you are screwing over those with little cash.

How about we just give guilds a lot more features, like different decorations and NPCs, the chance to move different NPCs around and change some of their text/names, and the chance to invite larger numbers of people to your hall for low/no cost?

If you can make the guilds in GW2 so important of a location that they'd look like a suitable place for someone to live, this issue would be finished.

Actually player-owned houses appeared (in a mainstream MMORPG game) back in 1997. Game is called Ultima Online and the game is still up and running (on its 11th year).

GW1's economy is in the crapper because there are not enough money sinks in the game, we all know that. Customizable houses, customizable towns and guildhalls can remove the money out of the game.

Also, my proposal about customizable GH NPCs for PvP purposes have set limits (like someone said earlier). Each guild gets a set amount and they can mix and match (5 archers 0 footmen or 3 archers 2 footmen, for example). This provides a certain unpredictablity to each GvG battles.

Its just an idea and it worked well for a LOT of games. (UO, SWG, Asheron's Call, WoW, etc.) It'll also boost RPing in this game.

You guys bring up valid points. We already know that...

...THIS. IS. SPAR-err, NOT WARCRAFT!!!

But simultaneously, GW needs more random side things for the social aspects of the game, and as money sinks (though to be honest I have very little money to sink into anything).
