Yes it is the same argument made every festival but that's because the game festivals are NOT real festivals and are not based on real festivals.

The Winter festival was not anything to do with Christmas.
The Mad king turning up during halloween was nothing to do with all hallows eve in the Christian world or the pagan festival of the dead Samhain.

The only one that comes close is the new year that is an argument for people who culturally celebrate that festival.

I and others will continue to bring this up every festival untill someone makes an official statement about it or chooses to compromise and move the game festival dates to help those with real lives.

Well you might want to waste your time elsewhere. What would the official statement say? "Jeez guys, you got us... we do align some events with real world holidays, sucks to be you."

And anybody who argued 'I have a life therefore I cannot attend the event so A.Net should move it' loses because that is the equivalent of the godwin statement of this thread. Lots of people "have lives" (whatever that means) and can still easily find an hour or two to play Guild Wars during the holidays.

I would think that if a Guild Wars player posting here claims to have a life BUT cannot find an hour or two to enjoy the game during a whole weekend they in fact DO NOT HAVE LIVES because they cannot choose what to do. Either that or they are hypocrites, your choice.

Yeah right. Lets move all events because some of the players are christians and the dates of GW events collide with their religious celebrations (easter, christmas or whatever it is). Next step will be throwing out of GW Dwayna and Balthazar because their existence collide with the muslim players's religious doctrine and finally we will have churches open in LA on Christmas and mosques in Ka on Ramadan.

All I was saying was that you're asking that when GW holds a festival, that in this case is based on a religious holiday, that they strictly adhere to the day of the real life holiday instead of extending them, or even holding it next week. In this case it doesn't work out well for many people because they celebrate or spend time with their families. The same goes for Halloween where you might miss the festivals because you're handing out candy, or Wintersday because you're out of town.

If you want to keep religion out of GW, I completely agree with you.

However, if thats the case, why does it matter when the festival is held? I don't see why you would have an issue with them extending or moving a festival where the only draw, reward, and festivities for you, independant of the real life religious festival, is that monsters drop chocolate bunnies for a sweet tooth title and golden eggs that give attribute boosts. Unless, of course, you want them to keep religion in the game and strictly follow that specific date?

How about not? Stop assuming all of us celebrate this holiday and HAVE to spend time with our families. In game events have always been on the day of the actual event and this is one thing I am satisfied with.

we all have real lives anyways - I have a full time job ~a husband & two teenaged boys ~lets not forget the puppy ~aging parents ~ divorced sister & niece.

Just arranging my schedule today to allow for trip to orthodentist for braces/work/puppy shots/what's for dinner/eye exams for boys

But I would still manage to find time before midnight to sign on if there was an event, maybe not play as much as someone else - but I would get there

Not just true of Easter...

On topic, it comes down to a choice. If family time is important to you then enjoy it and don't let a game ruin it for ya. But there really is no reason for Anet to change their schedule to fit ours. Especially since doing it for one group of customers will anger another group and vice versa. Its just the way it goes.

We have two holidays very close together. They pretty much add up to one larger event. Unfortunately some people will prefer one of these smaller events to the other, and wish it to be longer but Anet can't really do that without having the other people unhappy still. I think it's alright the way it is now, but I'd love it if both St. Patrick's Day and Easter Weekend were lengthened.

Christianity is mainly composed of elements from other religions, which in turn come from religions before them. People desire a deity to give their (worthless, apparently) lives meaning, and so society so far has always seeked out a religion and created one when needed.
