Rt/R Build try out
High Moral
I know, there are probably alot of builds out there, but I havent found a splinter barrage build that I liked with that much with Rt/R, anyway.. I just made this build to try out. I dont know how to make fancy build pages where you see the icons.. so. bare with me..
1. barrage
2. Splinter weapon
3. Ancestors Rage
4. Essence strike
5. Charm Animal
6. Comfort Animal
7. Bloodsong
8. Your choice of ress.
The idea is ofcourse to use a bow and splinter weapon with barrage, ancestors rage on your pet for additional damage (with bloodsong up, which also gives alittle damage)
Essence strike provide some E-managment and deals damage.
I deals alot of damage in many diffrent ways.
12 Marksman
12+2 Channeling
Rest in beast mastery.
Thoughts?
Thank you..
Edit: Oyeah, I use full Survivor + 1 vitae.

I don't see much of a point for the bloodsong and essence strike, i'd rather bring d-shot and "Dodge This!".
Cool idea though, i saw some guy use this in unwaking waters mission back when factions came out and it looked like it owned.

Bloodsong essence strike, is for more damage.. and u actually gain 2 mana ever 8 second + do damage..
The thing when I use ancestors on people they tend to leave and do something else, and I waste my mana.. I know my pet will never leave the target unless i tell it to =)

And if u want to be picky, its welcome back and I do want a cookie. hmm... no comment on this.
and take it from the experianced people who've been playing nonstop for the last 24+ months. blood song and essence strike = gg. get rid of them both asap shiro returns and backhands you with one of his many....erm..... "swords" ?
imo, what i would replace them with would be: 1) whirling defenses, and 2) natural stride.
but again, that's just me.
blood song = waste of time just even casting it (with a ranger). essence strike w/ a ranger? ... not even going there, bud. ^^

Rest in beast mastery. I personally would lower Marksmanship a bit (most damage comes from Channeling anyway) and put some more in Beast Mastery to make your pet a bit more survivable. If you use a zealous bow you shouldn't have any energy problems. That way you can swap out Essence Strike out for something like Call Of Protection.
I would leave Bloodsong out as well. Instead I would put in Distracting Shot or maybe even Great Dwarf Weapon for your pet.
You could also consider to use Spirit's Strength + Splinter Weapon + Volley.

Less Marksmanship, more utilities, more imba PvE skills like Pain Inverter.
Splinter Weapon + Barrage will ensure an immense damage output whichever way you look at it, so fill the remaining slots with imba PvE skills, Ritualist utility skills, etc.
You could seriously manage Splinter Barrage at Marksmanship 0, so don't be afraid to lower it to, say, 9.

first of, I am not a ranger btw..
I did lower it to 9, took beast mastery with the rest of the points.. took away bloodsong and essence strike. Zelous bow is enough it seems.. atm dual shot and distracting shot. (dont have the imba PvE skills on this char atm)
I tried it now for some hours with H/H... it is working like a chaaarm..

Since you're getting most of your damage from splinter weapon, you may want to try volley instead of barrage. The recharge is more suitable for use with splinter weapon and using it will free up your elite skill slot.

Nightmare weapon + triple shot ftw!

I would use a bar more like this:
[card]Offering Of Spirit[/card][card]Favorable Winds[/card][card]Splinter Weapon[/card][card]Ancestors' Rage[/card][card]Charm Animal[/card][card]Comfort Animal[/card][card]Death Pact Signet[/card]
Marks: 9
Channelling: 12 + 1 + 1
Beastmastery: 9
Spawning power: the rest (i believe it comes to 3)
Use a zealous or elemental flatbow.
That way you can have enough energy to spam volley, keep casting splinter and ancestors' rage.

I run this on my rt/r. Marksmanship can be lowered to 0 with this build. I recommend a dire pet as the dmg will be a bit higher, more importantly the health is low and will make the pet the target/tank. I solo some easy HM areas with this build. Don't forget to cast your wep spells on the pet too.
Volley
Distracting shot
Spirits Strength
Splinter Wep
Ancestors Rage
Charm Animal
Comfort Animal
<optional> (Warmongers, Brutal Strike, IAS (Never Rampage Alone but energy can be a bit much), Rez)

Welcome to guildwars, would you like a cookie?
It's actually 3 mana, the cutoff is at 13+ Channeling.

I changed some on the build yesterday.
I added "Dodge This"
I like barrage more then volley.
1. Barrage
2. Splinter
3. Ancestors
4. "Dodge This" (Since its the only adrenline, its is up almost all the time, cost no mana and makes you do more damage..very useful)
5. - FREE SLOT - (currently its mostly ress signet for me)
6. Comfort Animal
7. Charm
8. Ress
It works extremely well.
I use Chkrr bow (Zelous bow with +30hp) and full survivor
The pet is a Dire Tiger.
I have no bigger issues with mana.
Heroes: SABWAY =) It helps casting splinter or more people in the group + myself, so I can cast on the pet from time to time.
I was in love with this build yesterday! Specially mobs that likes to stick together.

Actually, this build is better for more DPS, and can much more easily take out single enemies when the "splinter barrage moment" is gone and they have dispersed.
[skill]Spirit's Strength[/skill][skill]Sight Beyond Sight[/skill][skill]Splinter Weapon[/skill][skill]Volley[/skill][skill]Triple Shot[/skill][skill]Nightmare Weapon[/skill][skill]Weapon of Aggression[/skill]
You splinter volley until the mob clears up, then Weapon of Agression + spirits strength auto attack at single foes, or triple shot nightmare weapon for 150 lifesteal.

Marverick
The above is good but drop Triple and Nightmare for Savage and D-shot. Nightmare Weapon cancels out the damage bonus from Spirit's Strength so it's not really desirable.
spirit of defeat
maybe fit in dwarven weapon for your pet

with this free slot i would put distracting shot, the damge lose because of expertise doesnt matter because splinter weapon helps you out and it is a very nice interupt

MasterSasori
You should try experimenting with volley instead of barrage and saving your elite slot for a rit skill.
roger pedrosa
hello there i use that same build for my pve rit. try mixing this in your skill bar remove some of the spirits and add nightmare weapon + triple shot or mix I am the strongest + volley. or mix them around i have fun with all these skills goodluck..............................
High Moral
If I go splinter build now the bar looks like this.
I took you advise and used volley instead....THANK YOU! =)
volley
splinter barrage
ancestor rage
spirit strength (E)
-- ANYTHING SLOT --- usualy dshot or capture signet
Comfort Anitmal
Charm Animal
Ress
I was thinking of taking out the animal. And putting in tripple shot and something else. Ideas?
Would this build work in AB?, i need to try that for shit and giggles.
9mark
12+1+1 Channeling
Rest in spawning (cant remember what it comes up to)
It works extremely well.

In my opion the ss version is boring. I like the barrage version!
My build: Barrage, Splinter wep, ancestor's rage, call of protection, charm animal, comfort animal, greatdwarf wep and ress.
I have a dire black wolf.

boring? its the same, to be honest i must say, that I also was against taking away my barrage, my love towards it was just to big. But then, I tried it and I did see the light. using SS and Volley is just plain better. Even if you dont do anything you still shoot for 50+ with 9 mark.
So when your barrage moment is over, and you shoot for 20, its not just that fun!
My dire tiger eats your wolf! I name it .. "Dire Tigerr" which i found very funny...

I don't like the felling that you have to look all the time to the effect panel, to keep yr ench up etc.
Antithesis
You can adjust your interface to move the effect monitor to a more visible location. I've got mine sitting above my skillbar so i don't need to divert my attention from the bottom of the screen.
You get used to maintaining enchantments / weapon spells etc, if you can't then it's not worth playing half the classes in the game.
