When Is It Profitable To Use Superior Salvage Kit?

Hello everyone, I was just wondering when it would be better to use the superior salvage kit aside from using it to get good inscriptions or upgrades. Let's say we got some white items lying around for 50 gold. If we use the superior salvage kit on it, will it give us common/rare crafting materials worth well over 50 gold all the time, or is it still a gamble?

Does salvaging from the same weapon which is "white", and another version is "gold", would give give different chances of giving out the rare crafting materials, like the "gold" version would give more rare crafting items and the "white" would give more common?

As far as I know, Expert and Superior have identical salvage stats.

You have no higher chance of rare materials with either, I believe.

i wonder about that too, but basicly if the weapon is maxed you get about the same mount of mats everytime(dont quote me for that one lol) as for gold and whites im not sure it matters as its just the same weapon. all i can say is experiment with it. also if your gunna salvage mats, use a reg. salvag kit so it doesnt cost as much since they both will yeld mats.

Its never profitable to use a superior salvage kit over an expert one, unless you are getting the free superior kits through quest rewards. An expert salvage kit costs less per use then superior and has the same effect.

As for materials, I think in general its better just to merch them. Remember that you can ID whites to increase their value, which is usually quite profitable if the white is originally worth 40 gold or more.

If you actually need to use the materials though (as opposed to selling them to traders, who rip you off horribly), ie you need steel for armor, it wouldn't be a bad idea to do it on a few select items.

Ah I see Good points, I completely forgot about the regular salvage kits lol! Maybe I should keep 1 set of regular salvage kits for experimental purposes hmm...

Oh yeah, I just noticed that too, when you identify a white item without a price, the value goes up some

Hmm after experimenting for a bit, I identified some whites (using superior identification kit), usually around 50 gold each. Out of around 10 white items I identified, only one went up from 54 to 98 gold in value, the rest only went up by around 20 or 30 gold each.

As for salvaging crafting materials from blue items, I actually got lower gold (forgot what items I salvaged from) than if I had just sold them to the merchant. I only got one rare crafting material and of all things it was a monstrous eye worth just 100 gold.

I guess it's really a gamble, I'll just stick to identifying the real unidentified items and salvaging obviously good upgrades and inscriptions instead of wasting money trying to squeeze out 20 more gold from whites lol

The only thing i can think of is if you are off 55ing and you are salvaging all drops for material. A location where you need to travel and zone in and out of repetitively. Time is money and if you can salvage 100 times for 1 spot used in inventory it is a good thing

Some thoughts for you. You stated that when you ID whites that most of them go up by 20-30 golds only. How much does it cost to id? 4gp..? Spend 4gp to resell for 20-30 more gp means a profit of 16-26ish....just for a quick double click, slide, click action. Anyplace with mobs over lvl20 it is usually profitable.

i just use a expert it has less times you can use it but overall cheaper in the long run
now the better question is when do you use a perfect salvage kit over a expert
but we are not in that questioning
i would just say use a expert salvage kit the Superior salvage kit is a money sink

to all of the above. *ahem* just buy a superior salvage kit from some-1/a friend who owns a town in faction for 1.6k. why? well b/c the exclusive merchant sells them for 1.6k instead of 2k. the 400g deduction is the cost of 1 expert salvage kit.. so.. nothing lost what so ever. you get a 100 use kit for the price of 4 expert salvage kits instead of 5 from a regular mechant. win-win, no?

It is profitable to use when someone GIVES you one. There is no difference other than the ammount of times you can identify items.

It costs 5 quest reward items to make a superior salvage kit which usually sell for 200g each, meaning a superior salvage kit costs 1k if you use quest reward items.

Or, you could buy an expert kit from the discount merchant for 320 gold, or 1/5th of 1,600. Still cheaper
