For N/Mo you could play SS or something..

Mo/E and Mo/Me both have their advantages!

It depends on how you want to play really...

You wanna help the party or straight up kill stuff? Of course, there are all ranges inbetween.

More info please! lol.

forgive me for being a right noob, but i dont want to do what i did in WoW and that was choose the wrong class!!

in PvP i want to be a healer, so was thinking Monk and ???

and in PVE i want a DPS which is fun to play but not a ranger, or maybe something that can DPS solo, but heal in partys. Thanks

Straightforward healer is a Monk then.

DPS is a little more tricky. Elementalist is good if you want a caster with DPS. Warrior is kinda obvious if you want to be in their face while you're killing them.

Don't worry about being a newb. No one will flame if you really want to know something.

If you're totally new, just pick something that seems cool...Necro is defo fun when just learning Monk is always a good secondary class before you learn what you want to specialize in. You can change your secondary class later in the game so don't worry, but being Necro/Monk will give you a better resurection skill.

As you advance in the game you'll learn to specialize and think about what Elite skill you want to head towards, like SS (Spiteful Spirit). I wouldn't worry about that too much at the start though, as you only get a few skills here and there to begin with so specialization will come a little later.

Just jump in, have fun learning, find a nice guild and don't stress too much about where you're headed. Just enjoy the ride

EDIT: Having read you don't wish to make a character choice mistake like in WoW...don't sweat it. You won't be leveling for endless weeks before realising it's not for you. The level cap is low so if you realize you don't like playing as something...you can level up a different character pretty easily. Plus, you can always create a PvP only character that starts at lvl 20...just to try out the different proffesions in that environment. It's much easier and much more fun than spending all your time getting levels

Oh, and dont forget. This isnt WoW.

Meaning, if you are unhappy with a character in PvE... you just delete it (in the party select window) and make a new one which you would rather play.... but dont forget to take off anything valuable beforehand, otherwise that will be permanently lost.

Reaching the top level of 20 can be done relatively quickly (Ive seen people saying they managed it within a few hours), so you wont be grinding yourself to insanity to reach the level cap if you restart a PvE character.

ADITTION EDIT: Thats a good point Cydonia. You can also access Wiki ingame any time by pressing F10

just play and learn.... nothing too overpowering....

psst.. here is a secret.. if you make a warrior/monk with mending and healing breeze.... other players will think you are leet!

N/Mo = necro/monk
Mo/Me = monk/mesmer
Mo/E = monk/elementalist if that's what you were asking about.

SS = [skill]Spiteful Spirit[/skill], a popular elite skill for Necros.

- Every class is viable and used in PvP. The game is heavily based on balanced parties.

- PvP characters start at max level (20), but you don't have any skills or weapon and armor enchantments unlocked. You will be severely hindered by this as well as the fact that you don't have access to skills from all campaigns. In addition to this there's heavy discrimination against inexperienced players in PvP (those who haven't grinded rank in Heroes Ascent).

- People in this forum have troubles with reading comprehension.

- PvE campaign is short. It can be finished completely in one week. Rest of the time you're grinding for different looking armor and titles if you become interested in those. Everyone already has the titles though, so you won't be special.

I personally think our reading comprehension is fine, and everybody here but you answered his/her question quite well

You seemed to be trying to put this player off playing. Hmmm, interesting help there

Though you'll lack the skills to begin with, Hendie, you will be able to unlock more as you either progress through PvE, or PvP (by spending the faction you'll earn). Don't be put off by this as you're obviously here to play for fun, unlike some others.

PvE takes as long as you'd like it to. For example, it took me about 6 months to finish Factions on one of my chars as I didn't just rush, rush, rush through. I took my time, played other characters, did other things, tried out all the quests. On another character I rushed through it in a few days, just for the hell of it. So you see, it will only take as long as you want it to if you're not all about rushing.

And to clarify...you do not NEED to grind for anything in this game. If you want the pretty armor, you have to work a little for it, but you can get the same stat armor (max) for nothing but drops if you'd like, or for very little money. There's a lot more to this game than some people like to tell you. It's all about perspective, and as you already wished to know which class would be fun, I can assume you're not here just to grind titles to be 'special' so the above comment by our friend was rather un-needed, and significantly showing a lack of reading comprehension.

Have fun, Hendie, and ignore the old timers who forget (or maybe never knew) how to just play for fun

you hit the nail on the head, cheers buddy!! im more of a pvp person anyway as its more fun coming accross different types of play/players. Although i do enjoy PVE just not the grinding part which is why i quit WoW.
