Does SARDELAC SANITARIUM matter
Shuuda
This forum doesn't matter, since only 0.5% of the people on it know what they are talking about.

No.
Place is full of scrubs.
WTB re-roll to 2005 good forum back then..

Sorry. But, are you kidding? Nothing gets implemented in the game because people posted it here. Regardless who did it.
It takes mass turmoil, neverending threads about a subject, and then something *MIGHT* happen.
But if you ask for forums that "count", I think you should be assured that Guru and GWO are the biggest and oldest forums and carry some weight.
And all that just because support told you to post your ideas on forums. Homer Simpson would say "d'oh".

I pray they don't, what with the outright hatred towards PvP and terrible threads that pour out in Riverside.

I mean, I have no problem with new players. We were all new once. I have a problem with new players who come on the forum and demand stuff gets changed because they don't understand something.

So a lot of times they are forced into taking this middle road and then both sides feel like being RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed without any lube.

They actively listen to our ideas, and some ideas that turned out bad originated in these two forums. |

Sometimes it might be picked up, more often not.
And this is quite good, if ANet would consider and finally even implement every idea posted here, the game would be a mess.
It is quite optimist that all ANet designers have a free day where they sift through the forum to read all pearls of ultimate wisdom posted here.
So go ahead and post your idea, and be realistic about the impact of your suggestion.

I guess I was hoping that I'd see people actually considering other's ideas and maybe attempting to contribute here, but it doesn't seem like that happens... most of the time I think people post without even reading.

It seems to me though that maybe there have been so many bad ideas presented here that everyone's knee jerk reaction is to shoot down every idea without thinking about it. |

This is a game forum, and communication is too often at neanderthal-level. Dunno why this happens, it is not only a problem of this forum. And people adapt to that style.
There are worse forums, though.
I just checked your age and noticed that your manners are civilized, well above the standard here. It would be an interesting experiment to see what would happen to you if you post here daily for three months.

I wonder if people realize this is actually about Sardelac?
And no, sardelac doesn't mean anything. LIke 0.0001% of the ideas actually get implemented. And as for the Concept classes... Well, I doubt anyone except the usual weirdo's even LOOKS at that place. (I sure hope they won't come here to flame me )

you can tell Anet there "is" over 1000 people when they all sign it. |
All empiric data gathered to date on social side of MMOs indicates that forum visitors are not representative statistic.
Perhaps you were expecting something else - Sardelac isn't a poll on "what will we add into next patch".
Auction house and hair dresser likely have more than 10,000 signatures. The response given by Anet was: "Will not be added due to technical reasons".
So that makes ideas a pipe dream. There have been over 15,000 ideas posted in Sardelac alone. Me, and several others have provided multiple examples of completely player proposed ideas that not only made it to the game, but changed it to the core.
Do player suggestions matter - yes.
Do polls matter - no.
The ideas are there to give designers ideas. It's not about idea popularity, but how could it improve gameplay.
An example - Ursan is very hated. Yet it improved gameplay for many, and will not be changed. Same for titles. But, there's a design direction that game follows. Nobody likes nerfs, but all realize that some form of balance must exist. Nobody likes "broken" economy, yet the economy in GW is fine.
And most importantly - people will disagree with you simply because they can. It's not about their right - it's about opportunity and ability to do so.
MMOs are more than a game. Forums and fan sites are included into that. It's all part of the game. The flaming, trolling, and all that belongs with it. That is the true end-game.
Numa Pompilius
Sardelac equals information. Information equals knowledge. Knowledge equals power. Power equals energy. Energy equals matter.
Hence, Sardelac equals matter.

I think it gives people a place to make suggestions, whether they are read or not, people feel the need to spurt out things they think are important....that forum offers the place to do it.....otherwise riverside would be full of posts about things that we can do nothing about.
Snow Bunny
Sardelac Sanitarium lowers your IQ 20 points every time you visit it. Especially the Concept Class threads.
Jake_Steel
It only matters for those wishing to ego stroke their e-peen and feel important about some very unimportant things.
Malice Black
They changed the title...still Sardelac is full of eejits too.
